extremely dissappointing stay at the Dauphin in Bordeaux
1. Curb appeal non-existant, shabby flaking paintwork to a dull, tired exterior. Dog poo on pavement.
2. No-one present at time of arrival, had to phone someone to get entry code. Got keys from cleaner who gave us whatever rooms had been cleaned. Rejected one, so 70 year olds given room on third floor.
3. Rooms tired, bathrooms inadequate. One had no sink plug, brackets on wall for non-existant shelf, rag-like shower curtain. Other room had black mould in shower, loo seat hanging off by
one bracket. Third floor room had flaking ceilings.
4. Main staircase was also fire exit route .... very bad.
5. Breakfast was a total disappointment, poor choice, only bread and slab sponge cake, which appeared each day ... not even fresh packet opened. two small containers of cereal. Yoghurt or pureed fruit. Needed to ask for hot water.
Definitely not worth a two star rating ... Tourist board should re-evaluate.
We intend to contact the Bordeaux Tourist Board with our complaints and concerns, and also Trivago through we made the initial accommodation request .... we have had excellent service from them in the past and I am sure they will be concerned that their record of service has been blemished.
