We had a wonderful weekend.
Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff. Brilluant for the children wuth a fairy garden to explore and outdoor games, amazing tree swing and the clever Woolley sheep hunt (with chocolate prize!). A very special place, we will be back.
Very family friendly.
not really suitable for those without kids though. Staff are warm and engaging. kids bowls and plates, and crayons etc. in restaurants. Pool is well equipped with floats and toys etc. Gardens have football nets and croquet. Walled garden is pretty. I'm sure it,d be really beautiful in the summer when everything's in full bloom.
I stayed for just one night last night, the hotel itself is beautiful.
The rooms are lovely and have a lot of character. There is a wide variety of choices for an evening meal which was lovely. Would recommend and will definitely be staying again.
Stunning hotel but not very accommodating staff
This hotel is gorgeous, an old manor house with beautiful gardens.
It is well located for Bath and Somerset and well set up for families. We may return when we have kids as has wonderful facilities and nature gardens. The spa and both swimming pools are lovely and the staff there were really friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the main hotel staff were not so - they were not accommodating and quite rude when we asked to check out late (on a Monday) because we were having treatments at the spa (and spending lots of money!) and told us the swimming pool closed at 9, when it closed at 8. This was disappointing when we turned up just after 8 for an evening swim. We had also booked for dinner to discover there was an expensive fine dining menu after 7.30, with main courses at £26 - more than we are used to paying in London. The food (although lovely) didn't seem to justify the very high prices. We really enjoyed our stay but had we payed more for the room would have been disappointed.
Full of character
The room we were given was very small, and our bathroom the size of a large cupboard.
It was also dark, with lamps on the bedside tables and one lamp hidden behind the TV screen, which we couldn't move from its place to shed greater light.
We had a problem with the shower head which would need a plumber to fix later. The bed was super comfy and the feather duvet and pillows encased in crisp cotton. The curtains were thick and efficient at keeping the morning light out. The house is lovely and felt very homely. The Spa is modern and my massage was good.
The gardens were disappointing, they needed a lot of attention. It had the potential to be wonderful. The staff were friendly and it was all very relaxing. The food was delicious.
Great Countryside Retreat
Loved everything about this place.
