3AA Assessed Hotel Ratings explained
Bowgreave Drive, Garstang, PR3 1YE
Hotel completely non-smoking. Retreat into the Lancashire countryside and enjoy the benefits of a family owned purpose built country hotel which is small enough to care but large enough to deliver on your expectations. The central location of the BEST WESTERN Garstang Country Hotel and Golf Club ensures that all our guests can enjoy all that the Northwest has to offer yet still have that feeling of welcoming seclusion. With 32 well equipped bedrooms, nine function rooms, lounge, restaurant and brasserie we can accommodate and cater for most needs with a warm personal service. For those that enjoy a round of golf take advantage of our on-site 18 hole course with manicured greens and scenic fairways or practice for your under par round on our floodlit driving range.

A hotel stuck in the 90's
Stayed here for a wedding. Paid £74 for one night without breakfast. Arrived at the hotel at 3 pm and went to check in, the receptionist informed us the room was not ready and to come back in 15 mins. Came back 20 mins later and was told the room would be a further 10 mins...at which point a duty manager came to the reception and interrupted us to have a go at the receptionist for checking people in then just walked off leaving the embarrassed receptionist alone with me. Our luggage was kindly stored in their office. Whilst we waited. When we finally got to check in the corridor leading to our room smelt of stale carpets, the room (8) was very dated with wall lights missing lampshades, the bathroom grouting black along with the mouldy shower curtain and broken mirror light. The bed was comfortable however but the entire hotel is stuck in the 90's and have failed to invest guests £70 a night (for a standard room and no breakfast) money. The staff were helpful but their drab brown uniforms were uninspiring. When we checked out we weren't even asked if we had had a good stay! Please re-invest in this hotel!

Very good overall
Lovely staff and perfectly acceptable accommodation and food, but I really felt like I'd gone back in time to the 1980s, I was quite suprised when they had a pin credit card machine, I was seriously expecting them to put my card in one of those machines that has to be manually slid accross a paper receipt.

Cheap & Clean for a businness stop over
This is a good mid-week stopover. It is never busy, almost to the point of being deserted. Food is typical Golf Club - acceptable bar snacks and overpriced restaurant, but alt least their is something for everyone. Decor is looking a bit tired and could do with a bit of tidying around the edges. Attention to detail would help. Obviously smokers stand just outside to puff - evidence of cigarette butts and discarded packets. Not acceptable to a non-smoker.
