Something a bit different !
My first thoughts on seeing how close the hotel was to the station was delight but then realised how many trains would depart and leave.ln all honesty it was not a problem .
I enjoyed my stay and it is a photographers dream. My room was huge and lovely in the old part and enjoyed my breakfast immensley.Just one small niggle as a limited mobility user was on my arrival and subsequent coming and going I either had to struggle or wait to ask another guest to carry my rollator for me. L did point this out and was shown a doorbell at the top of stairs which is of no use at the bottom . Also there seems to be very little facilities for a wheelchair user.We don't all arrive in cars !
£200 pound disappointment
One of their top rooms at 200 per night, my expectations were fairly high.
Staff Friendly enough. Room facilities lacking. (Room 320) No mini bar, No Fridge, No room safe. Rather dingy lighting. Drinking making facilities. Well a £5 kettle and a few sachets of Kenko, 4 tea bags. No bottle water, no biscuits. They will bring you a nice coffee or drink to your room for the cost of the drink plus 5.00 tray charge. (wow)
Problems with room. Well yes. Room phone not working, Bath would not drain, sink plug hole full of hair, wardrobe door broken, toilet seat (very) broken, in fact a large list that this was just the tip of. The room had some really dirty areas and was in general poor repair. I filled in the form they supply to point out problems in the room. (at least they ask)
Breakfast. A bit of a 'bun fight' with undrinkable coffee. Large screen TV playing and a guy playing a guitar and singing. (We thought we were dreaming), we left and used ones of the really nice cafes in Chester for breakfast. One the whole my wife and I had a wonderful time in Chester as we don't get hung up on where we are staying, but at over 200 (if you paid full price) this represents the worst hotel room I have yet had.
We were very impressed and would look at coming again
Loved the quirky hotel, room was a little disappointing
The hotel building was amazing and we loved all the quirky additions around.
We stayed in an executive double in the new Kings quarters and really or the £181 we paid was left a bit disappointed. The room was starting to look tired and we did find a few hairs... bed was really comfy and the black out curtains worked perfectly. The drinks at the bar were very expensive but I did like the extensive choice of cocktails in the king's grill. Great location right by train station but we stayed when there was a race meeting on so we're walking into the drunken race folk on way into the town on the evening which was interesting. Breakfast was good albeit a little chaotic. All in all we had a good stay.
Hotel has great character, parking close by, short walk to city centre, excellent food and friendly staff.
Got a shag
The hotel was so nice that my wife felt relaxed enough to have sex with me when we got in that evening.
Full marks to the hotel and late rooms for making this happen!
We got a really good deal on this hotel .we even got a room up grade .
The hotel was beautiful and full of different things to see .
Lovely old place close to the centre, arrived to find they had upgraded us to the Kings which is the newest part.
Room was lovely as were all the staff, friendly, efficient but not over bearing. We had booked dinner which we really enjoyed after cocktails in the bar. Only slight bad mark was speed of service in restaurant even though it wasn't very busy as it was a Monday evening.
not enough facilities near by
Beautiful hotel and grounds, excellent food, great location within Chester.
Would highly recommend and look forward to returning again soon.
