1 night stay
The room was okay but not worth £179 for 1 night at all, it was freezing and the shower was boiling hot and the cold tap wouldn't work so we couldn't have a shower!
I was a bit disappointed
The bathroom of 209 in the garden rooms was a bit grubby, behind the toilet did not look like it had been cleaned, the towel rail was rusty and the plug hole looked dirty, windows had flaking paint work and damp.
We ate in on the first night, My husband had Pizza and fries, pizza was cold, we didn't complain, husband was too hungry. I had Ploughmans', both very poor for the cost. We were woke at 9.15 by house keeping, We put our do not disturb, but cleaners very noisy, raised voices - too noisy for us to rest. Other than these complaints the building was beautiful and the bar staff and reception were fault less.
great hotel and wonderful staff
we stayed for one night and had a great experience.
The leisure club was a welcome experience after a 4 hour journey after being stuck on the M25 for 2 hours. We were going to go to Oxford for dinner that evening but decided to eat at the hotel and we are glad we did. The Restaurant staff were very friendly and attentive and as there was a wedding on that night we managed to witnes the Firework display from our table, which finished off a great meal.
Rest for the weary
We had a great stay here after a good day shopping, good food and a very good night rest.
De Vere Venues Milton Hill House
An absolutely delightful hotel.
Fantastic room (113) . Nothing to fault. Manager very friendly . Gardens we'll kept and very pleasant. We will return
On arriving we were treated very professionally by the reception staff and very impressed with the building.
On entering our room there was a stale tobacco smell in the air so we asked to be moved and the duty manager arranged for us to be moved. We decided to try the restaurant and it seemed very nice at first, we were seated then forgotten about. My girlfriend repeatedly try to signal one of the 4 or 5 staff that were working at the time but they were unobservant and unprofessional, talking amongst themselves. My girlfriend had to approach the staff for attention. Our drinks order was taken and then we were forgotten about again for 10 minuets, my girlfriend then had to leave her seat again to ask for our drinks and for our food order to be taken. Some bread was served with our drinks eventually and my bread was soggy and wet. Once again trying to get the attention of the staff was impossible so we had to leave our seats and approach the waiters. The girl came to the table with a full bread basket and replaced my bread but instead of throwing out the old wet bread she put it back in the basket and returned it to her station. I should say at this point that I am a restaurant manager so I see everything and never switch off. We then waited over 20 minutes for 2 burger and fries, when the waiter served the food he gave an excuses that it took so long as the burgers were bigger than usual so needed to be cooked longer. Both of our burgers were over cooked to the point of resembling an old leather boot. At this point we are so hungry and fed up with the experience that we ate what we could. After I complained to the duty manager who asked me what I wanted him to do. I asked for the money to be refunded and he agreed. Upon checking out I was surprised to find a charge for a glass of wine from our meal, I challenged this and it was removed. Overall we were disappointed with the level of customer service from the waiting staff and the professionalism of the duty manager although he was very friendly.
traditional, peaceful, relaxing
I loved this hotel.
We stayed at the weekend and there were some wedding parties. But the good thing about this hotel is the many separate spaces. This means you can be in a quiet lounge if you want. The food in the restaurant was of good quality and reasonably priced. Breakfast was excellent. Grounds are pleasant, with opportunity to have some fun and play croquet and volleyball. Pool and spa, though small, are clean and welcoming. All in all, we had a very enjoyable stay.
Massively over priced for a sub Travelodge stay
The block we stayed in (The Garden Block) was very tired and dilapidated.
It looks like a dirty prison block from the outside and the inside was bodge repaired. Room was tiny. Food was over priced and poor and most guests it seemed went to the pub nearby that we went to as we followed them back. Pool was good. For twice the price of a Travelodge or Premier Inn, the quality of accommodation was far below what I would expect for this price range.
This accommodation does not match that provided by Premier Inn and is priced higher.
Don't be fooled by the grandeur of reception, like us, you will probably be staying in the concrete block out back (map provided to find it).
Beautiful manor house set in lovely grounds.
The only reason I did not rate this wonderful place as excellent was that a couple of staff let the hotel down by not cleaning tables properly, trying to take short cuts which failed the otherwise exceptional service and customer care.
I would recommend this lovely comfortable and usually very clean venue. The leisure pool and gym were a plus - did not have time for the spa and treatments but would in future. the red kites and fireworks to music were a bonus
