Nice hotel with friendly staff
Was a nice and quiet hotel and the staff were friendly. Room was nice, bed was really comfy (number one priority!) and it was kitted out with everything - hair dryer, iron the works. Only thing that could be improved was if they cleaned off the mould or mildew that was around the window and possibly make checkout later than 12 so if you wanted you could have a lie in.

one night stay
we arrived late on the Saturday night, staff were friendly. Rooms were warm & beds were clean.
Bathroom had seen better days,
It was noisy from all the revellers outside, this continued to about 3am.
Breakfast was good, varied choice on the menu.
would possibly stay again if I was on another shopping trip,

Incomplete experience
Must start by saying how nice and helpful the satff were and how good the food was. The setting was good with great views although weather stopped us getting out and traipsing the country side whoihc would have been good. The rooms were fairly basic but more than adequate. Being out of season there were few guests so we didn't feel as though we experienced the Newgate at its best and the excellent xmas menu wasn't available on our first night.
Unfortunately the hot water boiler failed overnight meaning no hot water on the second day but the staff kept us informed and offered us alternatives when no quick fix was available. As it was they moved us to a different hotel (Best Western) which was excellent.

Great place to stay as central to shops and bars
The hotel is situated close to shops, restaurants and bars and is an ideal place to stay for a short break. Staff are helpful and accommodation is basic but adequate. Although our stay was over a weekend there was no noise and beds were extremely comfortable.

Strange hotel.
Difficult to find, had to phone the reception 4 times before someone finally gave us the post code for the car park. Once inside realised the place was in need of renovation, very surprised it received a 3 star AA rarting, and would question whether this was out of date. Once inside it was like a maze, the lift was very strange also. Buttons were on the completely opposite side to where the lift was. Rooms were warm enough, but need re-decoration.

Faulty Towers
The only thing marginally ok about the hotel was the price and location.. Car park was impossible to find, hotel is ancient, run down and in need of lots of money spending on it! If you need a place to rest your head for a stag and hen do then maybe it's ok.. Anyone else pay more and go elsewhere!
