Get the Nova Scotia Grill for Breakfast
I like independent places that have their own personality...... and this place has that. The first thing I saw upon entering the bar area was a sign saying 'Now on draught - Vimto. Just add vodka'. It was love at first sight.
So first the negatives, and they are very few. The accomodation needing a touch of modernising, the sink under the bathroom was tiny, the sofa bed in the living room was a little too hard for me, the box labelled 'Rioja selection' on the wall actually only contained a gas meter. These are all small points and nothing that cause a big problem.
Now the positives, the Vimto/Vodka, the friendliness and warmth of the staff and the fact they pressed my shirt for me without fuss, and the breakfast - I had the Nova Scotia Grill (pancake, haggis, bacon, maple syrup). Well that was just something superb. I had it 2 days running. As for the bar, although we only had one drink there upon return on the first evening, it was considerably more full than the other 4 places we had been down the road - this must say something good.
I liked this place, and I would go back if only for the breakfast.
