Nice stay room a little small but very clean
Good location near pubs and the broad
Good value, confusing to find!
Some signs would have been nice, especially in car park.
Bar and canteen did not mention Winelodge at all, so wasn't sure we were in the right place.
There were no toiletries provided so we had to leave to get some. Was some kind of problem with boiler, so no hot water late at night or at all in the morning, so we could not shower. Also the bin was blocking the alley to the the stairs that led to our room, so we walked past it several times before asking the bar staff a second time where to go. There was only one mug in the room also. So we couldn't both have a hot drink in the morning. But the breakfast was great, room was clean, great value for money especially for a Saturday. Though our sleep was disturbed by the loud music going on until 2am!
We were given a room above the bar on a Saturday night.
Although we were told we wouldn't be able to hear the DJ, we were kept awake until 2am by the music and general bar noise. The window was terribly thin and thus we could also hear road noise all night.
Our shower had dirt all along the edges and there was no where to hang your towel.
When we checked out, the staff were uninterested in how I stay was and very unhelpful.
Four in the bed
Shelf above sink in wrong place.
Couldn't spit after cleaning g teeth without hitting head. Partner couldn't shave properly. Couldn't get down to sink properly to wet his face. Just make sure you put more sugar on t tray. Change of towels each day would of been nice.
OK if you don't need any sleep
We stayed in Winelodge 107.
Good location and cheap accommodation. Slightly grotty but nothing too horrendous and we'd read other reviews so were expecting it. However, the Bar & Canteen is a small club which stays open till 2am (at least it does on a Saturday). The music was so loud in our room that the walls and floor were vibrating, plus various other pieces of furniture which alternated depending on the pitch of the bass. Earplugs are pointless.
Winelodge 107 Bar & Canteen
We stayed with this comany last year and found our stay very comfortable, however this time although I booked with the exact same hotel and address we were not in the same address and tucked away behind there main reception which had moved since our last stay 100mtrs down the road, the sign on the hotel counter really not being very clear about it.
The cleaner can do a better job, mopping the floor properly wouldn't go a miss, and rooms do have corners sweep them, other than this was a nice stay, although due to location change and complete lack of secure parking for our motorbikes we will not be returning next year.
Bad Customer Service
Our Client stayed here and the staff were very unhelpful (2 staff).
Client had a request but it fell on deaf ears and the manager went off shift and the other member of staff was not interested. Poor customer service and when you have had a long journey this is the last thing you want out of a hotel.
Overall things were okay but everything is very basic.
The room itself was simple, relatively clean other than tea spilt down the wall above the bin. I didn't feel comfortable about the access to the rooms. Going down a dark alley and up a rusty fire escape didn't fill me with confidence. Staff were generally polite though. Breakfast was not great. We both ordered a full English breakfast and the tomatoes were just tinned ones, but the part that put me off most was being served a grey egg. It was clearly not edible but served to me anyway. I returned it and was told that the chef would remake the entire meal for me. However it turned out that it had all just been reheated. So my beans had a skin and my bacon was charred. Overall the room served it's purpose but we won't be returning. Also, the locking system on the doors is by code which we have heard don't get changed with every new customer as you would expect. We found this to be quite unnerving. Finally, there were barely any toiletries provided. No hand soap.
Poor experience in small room
First be clear that 107 is not the Winelodge hotel (which I have stayed in before and was perfectly fine).
These are a small number of rooms over the wine bar down the road and are nothing like the main hotel. The good points are that the service was okay, despite having to walk down the road from parking at the main site; the guy on duty was helpful. The price was also good on a Friday night. The room was tidy enough with a comfortable bed. Wi-Fi was fine even though I had to ask about it. The downside was lots. Firstly it could have been a bit cleaner. The blinds had a layer of dust and the windows were just dirty. The bar is also situated on a busy junction and on a hot evening as the the noise was awful and went on until well after 1:00 am from drinkers from the various bars around. The bathroom suite was clearly a job lot and the sink so small as to be unusable. The loo seat was coming off and a handle on the bathroom cabinet had broken off. Outside access was from the scruffy fire escape and the seats/tables fro smokers looked like they has not been cleaned all summer. Breakfast for which we had paid was not until 10 so we packed and went. The only reason I would recommend staying is if you are a bit deaf and don't need windows open.
Do not stay here
The room is nothing like there photos on laterooms.
The wash room was unusable and even if you did want a shower you would need to bring your own shower gel shampoo and soap. That's after you scrubbed the shower room plus the towels stunk and in need of a good wash.
The bar and restaurant are very nice just a shame about there room...
