Shower let it down
Stayed at the Thistlewood for the rugby final weekend. Friendly staff, was greeted by the owner with a firm and friendly hand shake. Room was clean and comfortable. Good tea and coffee facilities. Plenty of choices for breakfast and very tasty. The only let down was the shower, could not regulate it, either cold or scorching. Would stay there again.

The Thistlewood (never again)
As soon as I arrived the Owner wanted payment straight away in the Hallway, Was put right at the Top of the Hotel when downstairs rooms were obviously available, the Tv didn't work, after he fixed a loose cable, I never saw him again until I checked out, the Tv Handset didn't work so I had to change channels manually, the shower had low pressure and went from scalding hot to freezing cold and back again, a shower that should have taken 5 min took 20, despite undergoing a ''recent refurbishment'' most of the appliances looked like they were from the 1980's a Dirty Tea cup in room, Towels removed and items moved in room while I was out of the Hotel, Cleaning of adjacent tables (using cleaning spray) taking place next to my table when it could have waited until I had finished my breakfast. Bus or Taxi to nearest station with traffic jams in what was not a very nice area. Met lots of people at Old Trafford who had cheaper and better rooms, much nearer the ground, I was not impressed at all.

Welcoming and immaculate
A warm welcome, immaculate room and delicious breakfast. Only complaint, the showers are temperamental and need upgrading.

Disappointing
Looked good on the net but room very cold due to ancient windows. Unable to shower for two days as shower was either scalding or cold. When reported to management there was no change on the second day. The manager said the adjustment was very delicate but even then it remained scalding or cold. Forced to strip wash but taps on basin almost impossible to turn off. The fried breakfast was excellent but the continental consisted of a lump of English Cheddar, two small rolls and a scone, half a peach and six blueberries. Asked hotel manager for partial refund but still waiting.

Lovely Place with Character
This was a lovely little place, full of character with beautiful gardens. The staff were very friendly and breakfast was great. Apart from being woken up in the early hours by inconsiderate guests the only issue would be the shower - it went from long periods of icy cold water, to skin burning hot for a few seconds before returning back to ice. No good if you are staying for longer than a night! I was considering finding a local gym and using the shower. Overall a good stay.
