Reviews - Birchleigh Guest House

4AA Assessed Guest House Ratings explained
Kents Bank Road, , , Grange Over Sands, LA11 7EY
Birchleigh is the ideal place to stay for bed & breakfast with a view to exploring all that Grange and the surrounding area has to offer, whether you are walking, cycling or just taking it easy. Birchleigh Guest house is situated in the centre of Grange over Sands. Grange is from the French “Graunge” which means granary. The monks of Cartmel Priory stored their grain here until the dissolution of the monasteries by Henry Vlll in 1536.The site can still be seen on the Main Street. The traffic free Promenade is the ideal place to take a leisurely stroll with a magnificent view across the bay to Arnside and Silverdale. You can enjoy a game of bowls, tennis or crazy golf. There you can also view the Prom Art exhibitions on the last Sunday in the month from April to September. Grange is ideally placed for all major routes to the Lakes. Nearby is the village of Cartmel with its shops and 11th century Priory. Horse racing takes place here at the May and August bank holidays. Many attractions take place during the year, Holker Hall Garden Festival,Cumbria Steam Gathering,Dales and Lakes Historic Vehicle Show, Grange Edwardian weekend and weekly brass band concerts in the bandstand park. Birchleigh has recently been refurbished to a very high standard, all rooms have en suite facilities with double walk in showers. Complimentary toiletries are provided. There are well stocked hospitality trays with fresh milk provided daily. All rooms have flat screen TVs, hairdryers and free Wi Fi. An iron and ironing board is available. Breakfast is served in the light and airy dining room, from a light breakfast of fresh fruit and cereals to a full English with all ingredients locally sourced. Birchleigh is close to the railway station and guests can be picked up free of charge. The local bus stops outside Birchleigh and the express bus to Kendal or Barrow leaves from the station.Close to shops & restaurants

A brief but enjoyable stay
A comfortable room with all the facilities we needed for a short stay. The breakfast was everything you could want and set us up nicely for the rest of the day. Thank you.

Small BB, but perfect for a night or two. Good attention to detail, and a modern set up, unlike many similar places. Definitely would return.

The guest house was small (4 rooms only) but provided very good personal service from the owners, who were helpful and friendly at all times. The accommodation was of moderate sized rooms that were clean and well decorated and furnished, including TV , tea / coffee making.
The location is convenient to local restaurant facilities (the "Bistro" is better than the rest).

Chill out at Grange
Lovely place to stay. There is a pay and display car park 20mts away or park for free up next street. Nice couple that run the GH. Room nice and clean and big, everything nice and new even the tele, makes a change from one attached to the ceiling with the chair facing the opp way. Well positioned for all that Grange has to offer for a relaxing break. Late shop, Chippy, Bistro on the doorstep, whatever you fancy.

Lovely guesthouse
Small but perfectly formed! Tasteful modern decor and furniture although the bed was too soft (but most would probably think it luxurious). Spotlessly clean and everything worked. Good quality breakfast. Hosts are very friendly.
