Punch Bowl. A little gem in a magic part of the countryside

Lots of charm, first class service and an engaging and well informed host.

These and a top level and varied menu contributed to our enjoyable stay in Edmundbyers.

A pleasant stopover.

We stopped over on our way home and arrived just as Sunday lunches were in full swing.

It is always a good sign when there are lots of diners. A very nice atmosphere and attentive staff. Our room was rather small but bed linen crisp and room well serviced with toiletries and good selection of teas, coffee etc, as well as complimentary water. Our evening meal was of good quality and reasonably priced. Breakfast too was enjoyable. One review I read described it as a '4 star luxury hotel in the country'. It is not that at all, but a very good village pub, with rooms, serving good quality food that would entice me back again.

A Lovely Inn - with good food and friendly staff

We visit the area 4 times a year and were unable to stay at the Anchor Inn nearby - this was an excellent substitute.

Lovely food and real ales; peaceful nights sleep and good wifi - a real bonus as many other venues have a "patchy" at best service. Already have booked to stop again in August.
