Each of the 20 en-suite rooms have been decorated and furnished to the highest of standards. Comfort and relaxation are implicit in their design and all rooms come fully equipped with all the necessary conveniences one would expect from a hotel of this calibre. Including: bath/shower combo, TV, Egyptian cotton linen, hairdryer and tea & coffee making facilities. For those who can’t leave the office behind, there is also a work desk, direct-dial telephone and free Wi-Fi access. Some rooms have beautiful views of Croft Bridge and St Peter's Church. Double and Twin room types are available or guests can upgrade to a more spacious Superior Room with either King or Queen Size beds.
The on-site restaurant serves up a delicious range of tasty dishes, specialising in traditional English cuisine with contemporary influences. The extensive menu is sure to offer something to whet even the most discerning of appetites. Committed to using locally sourced produce wherever possible, the hotel has garnered an impressive local reputation for the quality of its food. What’s more, also offered is a sumptuous range of bar snacks, a delightful lounge menu and even packed lunches and breakfast on the go. With a warm casual atmosphere it is the perfect place to unwind after a long day or to enjoy a drink (or two!) with some friends.
With a location that is convenient, accessible and picturesque it is no surprise to learn that the Hotel is a great venue for hosting events. With several dedicated function rooms they offer the flexibility and the space to cater for all kinds of business conferences and meetings. It is also a fantastic place for weddings and other special occasions.
Despite its quiet location in the peaceful village of Croft-on-Tees, the hotel is just an 8 minute drive from Darlington via the A66, not half an hour from Middlesbrough and 50 minutes by car to Newcastle. Offering complimentary on-site parking it is both convenient and easily accessible. Darlington train station offers excellent transport links to most major destinations across the UK. For those flying in, Newcastle Airport is less than an hour’s drive away; alternatively Durham Tees Valley International Airport is just a twenty minute taxi ride from the Hotel.
The surrounding area offers a wealth of fantastic tourist attractions and sites of interest. Indeed, just across the road from the Hotel is St Peter’s Church which was home to the Reverend Dodsworth, father to renowned author Lewis Carroll. Croft-on-Tees is where Carroll wrote several of his books and many historians believe that the inspiration for the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland was born from a carving in the church. Croft is a well known name among fans of motorsports and just 5 minutes from the hotel is the popular Croft circuit. Hosting a range of events from thrilling championship races and tournaments to track tests and opportunities to test drive some of the world’s most famous race cars, it is a great day out for the whole family to enjoy. A 25 minute drive from the hotel is the historic market town of Richmond. Little changed over the centuries it features a Norman Castle, Georgian architecture, cobbled streets, monuments and abbeys, breathtaking scenery and much more besides. Beautiful, inspirational and full of wonder, it remains one of the most rewarding places to visit in England. The town of Darlington is renowned as the birthplace of the modern railway and the Railway Museum houses the original Locomotion No. 1, which pulled the first train on the Darlington to Stockton Railway. For lovers of culture, Darlington’s two outstanding arts venues, the Civic Theatre and Arts Centre continue to offer residents and visitors a diverse range of entertainment and arts opportunities.
