Reviews - River View Bed & Breakfast

3Self Classified Bed and Breakfast Ratings explained
River View Bed & Breakfast, Park Wynd, Millgate, Richmond, DL10 4JS
Set in the heart of ‘ye olde’ Richmond this uniquely positioned Edwardian bed and breakfast boast spectacular views of the river Swale and waterfall to one side and a centrally placed view of the castle and its magnificent castle keep to the other.

The house is set into the hillside and the breakfast room, on the lower ground floor, leads on to a paved terrace, surrounded by orchards, hills, escarpments and the fast flowing River Swale as it meanders its way from Keld in upper Swaledale.

Only 3 minutes walk from the centre of Richmond, and overlooking the Coast to Coast path on the opposite side of the river, the Sunday Times had to concede ‘one of the 10 best places to live’ in England.

Surrounding us is Richmond, with its spectacular beauty, many lovely walks and an excellent choice of restaurants as well as shopping facilities.

The adjoining countryside, Swaledale and Wensleydale, offers some of the most interesting and panoramic scenery in England with its stone medieval villages, picturesque and untainted.

River View has two Victorian styled bedrooms, each with modern everyday comforts.
Care is taken that guests feel welcomed and comfortable, with thought and attention given to décor which offers both an aesthetic and healing quality to the house as a whole.

Facilities include:
Two double bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms
Tea & coffee making facilities
Colour TV
Free car parking outside or close by house
Free Wi-Fi available
Riverside and Castle walks on doorstep
Walker & cyclist friendly (Packed lunches/Drying facilities)
The B&B offers, where possible, organic food locally sourced and produced with vegetarian and full English breakfast catered for.

Tariff including Breakfast:
Double Room - £75 per room per night
Single occupancy of a Double Room - £45 per room per night

Good B&B with fabulous views
Ideally located in beautiful Richmond, a charming accommodation with genial hosts. The house overlooks the river Swale falls, definitely a unique location. Rooms compact but comfortable and well furnished.

Comfy B&B in ideal location
We were made very welcome and well looked after during our stay.. The room was cosy and the beds comfortable with shower ensuite. A tall building and bedrooms were on the top floor but with stairs only access. The location was ideal being within walking distance of the market square and also easy paths near the waterfall and along the tree lined river bank. Excellent breakfast cooked to order.

First Time in Richmond
The owners were extremely welcoming. Accomodation could not be faulted and location was perfect for exploring the town- very central.

Bad experience
Would not recommend. Was expensive for what it was. Room in eaves and had to bend in two to get past end of bed to en suite. Room was too small for 2 people. Small half size cupboard was supposed to be wardrobe, totally inadequate. 1 ml of dust on ornate side table. Tea facilities, but had to put tray on floor as no top space for it. Room very dark a d dingy. We couldn't wait to leave after one night and didn't stay for our breakfast the following morning. The owner was friendly and provided home made cake on arrival and helped carry bags up two flights of stairs to the loft room. Just very dark and dismal accommodation and house in general. The whole place had an awful smell of an old pot pouri. I was glad to get away to a modern, light, airy, fresh hotel room with plenty of space for 2 people and £5 per night cheaper!

Serenity
Are booking was made for a last minute, get away break to celebrate a Birthday. We were welcomed with warmth and politeness. The room was cosy and homely with everything we needed, breakfast delicious, quality produce, well cooked, and nicely served in a delightful room, with patio doors onto the terrace. The terrace provided the ideal place to sit, reflect and drink wine, before dinner in the Rustique restaurant in Richmond.
