Excellent Stay
Stayed at The Angel for three nights whilst working in the area. Our room was very clean, quiet, comfy and everything worked. Breakfast was good, though they do need to sort out the toaster. We ate in the bar/restaurant in the evening and the food was surprisingly good, the £6 buffet a steal. We'll definitely be back.

2 Night Leisure stay during the week
Initially I was checked in to room 212. I entered the room and right away there was a funny smell that hit me. I was a strange smell, it was a combination of something nasty covered up by strong cleaning products. The room was a good size and the bathroom was huge. After 5 minutes in the room it became apparent that the road noise was over powering. Room 212 is at the front of the property and overlooks the front door to the hotel and the main road outside. I noticed that the windows were ajar so I thought if I closed them the double glazing would negate the road noise, however, the windows were in the locked position and the key did not work so the windows could not be closed. At this point I decided to go back to reception and ask for a quieter room. Reception was very helpful and accommodating and agreed to move me to room 202. Room 202 is in the adjacent building that The Angel refers to as The Lodge. These rooms are far removed from the road and very peaceful. Room 202 was a good size however the bathroom is not suitable for anyone over 5 foot 6 inches as the shower is built in to the slope of the building roof. I am 6 foot 6 inches and this proved to be very inconvenient. Having moved once and with the knowledge that the hotel was very busy over the period of my stay I decided to make do with what I had. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the restaurant food ( I had the burger, but other meals coming out of the kitchen looked good) was good and fairly priced - albeit cheaper to eat at The West Meon 2-4-1 pub 3 miles down the road. Overall I was happy with my stay because the price was good in comparison to the offering. The Angel has a sign outside saying it is a 4 star hotel, I would personally debate that. If you want somewhere clean and comfortable and well located for a fair price this is a great hotel, but if you are wanting more then you will have to pay more.

Very good value for money
If you want value for money then the Angel is for you. The unit was very adequate; clean with comfy beds; (though bathroom floor and windows needed attention). Relaxed atmosphere in restaurant, staff couldn't have been more helpful, good carvery and wonderful cooked breakfast. All in all a good stay.

It was a convenient stopover for us as we were walking part of the South Downs Way. The room was small but comfortable, the staff were friendly and helpful and as it was a very hot night, it was pleasant to be able to sit outside on the patio with a drink and a jug of iced water.

Amazing value for money
Cheap didn't mean that anything was left attended. Rooms were basic but clean and had everything you needed. The food was lovely, had a great choice and a super carvery. The prices were also very reasonable. The bar stayed open for the guests. Breakfast again was superb. The staff were polite and very friendly. What more could we have asked for. We will definitely stay again. Many thanks
