Market Place, Hartington, SK17 0AL
Since taking over the hotel in 2010 we have refurbished the restaurants and bar, and are designing each room to provide a sumptuous and relaxing place to stay. Outside, we have our new continental terrace dining and seating area — perfect for al fresco meals or for simply enjoying a relaxing drink.

Lovely staff, food, room, pub and great village to stay in. Our puppy was very welcomed by the staff.

The bedroom was so small!
This was booked last minute admittedly, but to charge £100 for this pokey room was an insult. The decor was trashy - lots of red, including a horrible red sheepskin rug which had seen better days. By comparison the bathroom was vast, yet with no shower. The furnishings were just generally tacky for what appears on the outset and on the website to be quite a nice 4* hotel. VERY disappointed to say the least. The smell of the cowshed behind the hotel could not be helped but with the hot weather and the window open it was not only smelly but also noisey. Hartington is certainly a deceptive busy little village with a lot of road noise. Also, no proper reception - a hole in the wall with a note to say to go to the bar if unattended, which we did, and waited to be told we were early as Late Rooms had the check in and out times wrong on their website. The whole experience from start to finish was a disappointing shambles so much so we checked out at 9am and went to have breakfast in Buxton, not wanting to give the hotel a penny more!!

Charles Cotton Hotel, Harttington, Derbyshire
We booked a superior room with four poster bed and there was an initial mistake when we arrived of allocating us the wrong room. But this was quickly rectified. The room we stayed in was very good with a very comfortable bed. The customer service was very good with friendly staff. The highlight of the visit was the food, both breakfast and evening meal. The standard of the food was very high quality, both in ingredients and execution.
