Great North Run
This hotel was extremely overpriced for a run down hotel in need of a massive face-lift. Its saving grace was its pleasant and very helpful staff. The breakfast was nothing to write home about.

In need of extensive modernisation
We stayed 3 nights over the weekend of the Great North Run otherwise we would not have stayed more than one night. The decoration of the room was very tired and had some poor fittings; however the beds were clean and sheets kept changed, though the pillows were thin and needed throwing out!
The breakfasts were OK and I especially was glad of a good big bowl of porridge before the run-thank you.
I doubt this hotel would comply with diasbility requirements , with narrow corridors and no lift.
The staff were pleasant and helpful at all times, so it wasn't all negative. As it is such a good location I feel the owners would be encouraged to up date the facilities and improve the interior.
