The Old Tailor BnB
We couldn't of asked for better service on arrival or for a nicer quality of room - plenty of space, clean and welcoming.
We would definitely stop here again.
We needed somewhere central to stay for one night before the furniture was delivered to our new house in Darlington, and to use as a base whilst we prepared the house.
The Old Tailor is in easy walking distance of the house so we thought we'd give it a go. We stayed in room 1 which was very clean, light and airy, and with lots of space - very well converted to modern standards from an old building. Access is by a discreet door from the street leading down a passage to the main door to the workshop. However access to the rooms is up a flight or flights of stairs so the rooms would not be suitable for anyone in a wheelchair or who has difficulty with stairs. Your key opens all the doors so it met our criteria of being able to come and go as we pleased independently of any other residents (I think we might have been the only occupied room that night though) Reception is in the sewing shop below, and the staff called us earlier in the day to check when we would be arriving so that they could be on hand to let us in if we arrived after the shop shut The young man on duty carried our suitcases up the stairs and made us welcome quickly and efficiently. We didn't need breakfast as we could go to our house but the Old Tailor is right in the centre of the town and there are many choices for breakfast within five minutes walk. (Not quite sure how it can be called a B&B though as breakfast is definitely not part of the deal. "Boutique rooms" would be more accurate) Lots of car parks nearby also. We would definitely recommend the Old Tailor, and are thinking that it will be very useful as overspill accommodation if we have lots of friends to stay.
The Old Tailor
Excellent accommodation really clean and homely.
Very nice room and helpful and polite host.
The location of the B&B and the fact that I was the only person in the building made me feel unsafe and uncomfortable.
Lovely pleasant room
We were in room 3 at the top of the building.
It was a lovely pleasant room with lots of natural sunlight. The room and ensuite was spotless. It was in a central location with all the shops etc on your doorstep. If you like a cooked breakfast, the street across from the guest house; Skinnergate, and on the left hand side is a wee greasy spoon cafe, Three Squares....fab breakkie and mug of tea.
Good Value For Money
Amazing little place, owner leaves you be and very very friendly, very understanding of the situation we stayed there
A gem in the centre of Darlington.
A wonderful find right in the centre of Darlington, close to all amenities for shopping, restaurants and parking.
The rooms are above a sewing a shop. If you have an interest you will be thrilled, next to a fantastic tapas restaurant. The accommodation was well appointed, clean and warm with tea and coffee facilities. Breakfast is easily found in the nearby cafes. Parking is available around the corner in a 24 hr carpark which costs £5 a day or free if you enter after 6 pm and leave before 8 am. Thanks to Jo for her help with arrival.
Pleasant centrally located no-fuss place to stay.
Comfortable and secure. Will stay there again.
Pleasant little hideaway spot
Very pleasantly surprised and happy with the quality of room and welcome from staff.
Very fresh and new room with ensuite and secure entry. Only two teabags provided could have been more.
