Lovely grounds but that's where it ends.
We were put in the annex (Fir Trees) the bed was decent but the room was really small. It was clean but some of the paint work was cracking so it looks a bit tired. We were informed at check-in that neither the bar area nor restaurant were available for that (Sat) night because of a wedding. We could have anything from the Bar menu in another room (tea room/library), which had low coffee tables or order room service. With only one chair in our small room we'd be eating off our laps. If we had know this at booking or before arrival, we might have chosen a different hotel or changed our expectations. The breakfast was very average buffet. Probably fine for a seminar delegate but from our experience not for a couples night away.
Sponsored Walk, No Hot Water
Was checked in to room 101 and was told to head back up the car park and to the building to the left.
Having covered the bottom and top floors around this block of rooms I called reception as room 101 could not be found. I was then informed after dragging my overnight case and laptop around that I was in room building 1 room 01, however this information would have been better explained at the start.
Having enjoyed my sponsored walk I then decided to take a shower prior to having my evening meal, however after running the shower for several minutes it was very apparent that the hot water was not present. Called reception to be told there was an issue and it was being looked into, another let down.. On the plus side the food and staff serving that night was very good.
Lovely setting, but accommodation tired
The main hotel building and grounds are impressive, but I stayed in the Fir Tree Court annexe.
The room was on the small side and the décor and furnishings were tired, although clean. The soundproofing wasn't brilliant. Nevertheless, it was very good value, and I would certainly stay there again.
beautiful location surrounded by fields
Lovely hotel and room - we stayed in firs court building and our lovely stay was spoilt by very poor soundprooging as although we were in a top floor room on its own we could hear conversations, tv and snoring in the rooms below us.
I had a last minute appointment on Basingstoke and arrived very late , the place was immaculate and the staff were very helpful when I arrived at 3 am .
Excellent place 😀
De Vere Venues Highfield Park
Comfortable location for a break.
We stayed overnight following a wedding and found the room and breakfast to be every bit as good
A bonus for us was that the hotel reception reduced the original price as there was a special rate for wedding guests.
Great stay but its a shame the rooms are a little tired.
I am sure theres too much to do anyway but if I owned hotels I would scrap carpets and make sure there is a spare pot of paint to touch up scratches on the woodwork.
It just looked a bit old and tatty (sorry) Very nice Duty Manager though and a beautiful building and location
A comfortable bed for the night
I stayed here for one night.
Any longer and the single room would have felt too small.
I had no place to hang up my clothes as there was no wardrobe or drawers.
Despite it being a single room, the bed was a large single, or possibly a double bed and very comfortable, although the layout meant that it was positioned in an alcove which made it hard to view the TV whilst in or on the bed. I repositioned the TV onto a side table which made things easier to watch. The room was very clean, brand new bathroom with good shower. The hotel is in a very nice manor house, with beautiful surroundings.
All in all, I would stay here again for a night, but would consider paying a little more for a double room.
happy with room
lovely surroundings, very nice place,no problems with my stay and great breakfast, thank you!
