Lovely hotel but some disappointments

I really like this hotel, it's the 2nd time I've stayed this year & my friends 3rd.

Lovely building, grounds, food & staff but staying in the extension is putting me off going again due to the noise. Doors all bang noisily which you can hear, even when they're on the other floor, walls are thin so I heard my neighbours alarm in the morning and could even hear him blowing his nose. Only a couple of channels on the TVs worked and my friends radiator was on constantly meaning her room was way too hot (mine was stone cold all the time in the room next door), she went and asked for a fan but was told they didn't have one and they didn't offer to try and sort the radiator.

Stay for a friend's wedding

On arrival the receptionist advised that check in time was usually from 2pm onwards & I told her that the confirmation email had said from 12pm.

She was very condescending & basically told me I was wrong. Even when I showed her the email she didn't show any apologise for the error & continued to patronise me - very annoying. Another group came down to tell her that the hot tap wasn't working and she said "it should do" - again basically saying they were wrong. She also started dealing with them before she'd finished checking us in, which is poor customer service in my opinion. However, the room itself was perfectly adequate for what we had paid although it was a little dated and was in a modern building attached to the back of the picturesque a Victorian house. The gardens were lovely and the breakfast was just what we needed after a night out. Overall, a nice hotel but the receptionist could do with a refresher on customer service!
