If you like brutalist concrete architecture that's well past its sell by date, you gonna love this place.
State of the art 1969 and down hill since.
Positives are free parking and it is pretty much city centre.
Negatives are the place is very tired. Two of the three lifts have been decommissioned. And the remaining one doesn't say which floor you are at. The rooms are quite small, but ok, and they where clean. The mattress I had was knackered. Just worn out. The duvet had holes in it. And everything just very low quality. The rooms have large double glazed windows - but they are so worn out they rattled every time a bus went by in the main street - the rooms incredibly noisy - not helped by square dimensions which resonated. The hallways where in clean. And the once posh rosewood fire doors looking really very tired.
I can imagine this place being quite posh in 1970. Now its just sad and very out of date; it would benefit from being demolished.
Hotel a bit tired and dated, however, staff were very helpful, French lad at reception very friendly and couldn't do enough.
Hotel was perfect for what I wanted on this occasion, it wouldn't be the spot for a romantic weekend though. Location fantastic, a bit of TLC would make this a very desirable hotel in Newcastle centre as convenient to shopping, nitelife and restaurants all a short walking distance, metro about 5 mins walk away. Would return for sure.
