About the hotel
Marion & Peter welcome you to their home the "unique" Goodwin House. Built by the mayor of kesick in 1891, this red bricked building stands out from the rest. Retaining many original features (espcially the beautiful staircase), the house has been carefully ungraded to offer modern en-suite accommodation (4 star graded).
The high ceilings allow all rooms to be light and airy , even those at the top of the house (thanks to the mansard roof), flat screen tvs , wifi access , toiletries and hairdryers , complementary refreshment tray are all provided for your comfort as well as adjustable central heating. Quality produce are used in our substantial breakfasts , which will help set you up for the day , but if you would prefer a lighter option , not a problem. Served in our beautiful breakfast room dominated by a fabulous original marble fireplace. Information is provided in your rooms, such as Where to eat (in town or out) Where to walk (from 20mins to full days) where to visit (museums, shopping, adventure, even a zoo) Cycle routes How to get about (timetables for buses and boats) Whats on (cinema and theatre, booking available through us) Keswick is a wonderful base for your lakeland trip. At the base of skiddaw and on the shores of derwentwater ( queen of the lakes). Everything in the town is within walking distance, centre 2 mins, lake shore 4 mins, theatre 4 mins, the town centre has plenty of restaurants, pubs, cafes and wine bars so something to suit as well as the retails outlets. Stunning scenary surrounds us and its beauty never ceases no matter what the weather. Weather reports are posted daily to help "plan" activities but should you get caught out we'll dry you out -- our drying room is accessible to guests 24 hours a day Flasks are filled free of charge , and packed lunches can be provided (24hours notice). The english lake district is a gem , allow us the chance to provide you with the comfort to enjoy it .

The owner was very welcoming and accommodating.
The room was very comfortable and had everything I needed including lots of little extras. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. My flask was filled every morning ready for walking including a chocolate biscuit and a print out of the weather forecast. The attention to detail surpassed any four star hotel accomodation I have stayed in before. I look forward to visiting again.
Very central. Parking could be a problem but Marion went to great trouble to keep us a space. Bath a bit small. Otherwise couldn't be bettered.
