About the hotel

(Note: credit cards not accepted - please call for alternatives. ) Set in its own grounds, Coinachan Guest House is in a perfect location just off A82 between Fort William and Inverness on the Gairlochy road (B8004). This 18th century house, with its old byre, boasts spectacular views in every direction - the Grey Corries, Aonach Mor, Ben Nevis, Glen Spean and the Great Glen.

Take a short walk to the Commando Memorial or take the Highbridge path to Spean Bridge village, or head down to the Caledonian Canal and Great Glen Way. Fall asleep in our luxurious beds (all B&B accommodation is en-suite) and wake up to a wonderful breakfast just a bit out of the ordinary - fresh baked waffles, smoked salmon, powerhouse eggs, or grilled plate - made with the best local (and whenever possible organic) ingredients. With advanced notice we are happy to cater hearty packed lunches. Our three guest rooms are named for the spectacular views we have from Coinachan. Our Aonach Mor double room and Grey Corries twin room are on the lower/ground level. Upstairs our Lochy Munros room can be set up as kingsize or two twin beds. It also includes a contemporary sofa that folds out to a very comfortable queensize bed making this a family room. Rooms have Egyptian cotton towels and cotton sateen bedlinens with wonderfully light and warm duvets, and extra cashmere and alpaca blankets.

Short Stay at the Coinachan

We stayed at the Coinachan for two nights over the August Bank Holiday; the house itself is set off the B8004 and is accessed via a drive/track with plenty of parking space.

We were greeted by Dorothy on arrival and made to feel very welcome. We had booked the ‘Aonach Mor‘ double room on the ground floor, which was spotlessly clean with lovely soft towels and crisp quality bed linen. After showing us to our room Dorothy recommended places to eat and even booked our chosen restaurant for us.

At night traffic noise from the A82 is hardly noticeable but from our room you could hear the odd cough and muffled conversation above us. This is because the rooms themselves are part of a newish extension to the old original building and as such the sound proofing is typical of some modern builds. Having said that it didn’t spoil our stay as the bed was so comfy we had no problem falling asleep. We concluded that it was probably more noticeable due to the peaceful location. Breakfast in the morning was excellent, cooked to order with a wide variety of choices; it certainly set us up for the rest of the day. In summary a lovely stay in a charming guesthouse set in a great location.
