About the hotel
The Boars Head is an AA 3 Star Rated Inn beautifully situated in the quaint town of Middlewich. Middlewich is located close to the Trent and Mersey Canal. It provides an excellent base for countryside walkers and cyclists and makes a good base for exploring Cheshire, with Chester itself not too far away.
Middlewich is just two miles from junction 18 off the M6. Middlewich is set in the heart of Cheshire's salt area. Timber framed housing, pottery and the remains of clay-lined salt evaporation chambers have been excavated. Middlewich boasts a superb Parish Church in the town centre, whose history dates back to Roman times. Middlewich is a key junction on the bustling waterway; here the Trent & Mersey joins the Shropshire Union Canal. Today these Canals and rivers are still a major feature of the landscape around Middlewich and there are many walks that run alongside them. The inn itself is a traditional coaching inn and offers a variety of cask ales and quality home cooked food. PLEASE NOTE: Check In is from 14:00 & Check Out is by 11:00. We are a no smoking accommodation. We can take pets by prior arrangement.

Convenient single-nights stay
Friendly welcome, Landlady solved problem of key stuck in lock (same problem in adjoining room).
One downlighter not working, only way to switch off one wall light was to unscrew bulb - not very safe. Furniture and fittings adequate, but tired. Plenty of tea and coffee, but no water glasses - handy having a pub downstairs. Evening meal in bar well served and hot, but no kidney beans in chilli con carni. Breakfast very good - plentiful and flavoursome. Excellent sized bathroom (Room 7), powerful shower, threadbare towels have seen better days. Free wifi works well. Loud live local music fortunately stopped by 11:30 PM (Friday). Limited car parking, not signposted.
Staff very friendly, the hotel was lovely would definitely go back.
