About the hotel
Derwent Manor is a unique historic House situated in the beautiful village of Portinscale, just two miles from Keswick. In all there are 19 one and two bedroom apartments, with flexible accommodation sleeping up to 6 people. The apartments are tastefully furnished and equipped to a high specification to ensure an extremely comfortable stay.
Each apartment has its own individual character. Dog's are welcome in all our apartments at an additional charge of £6. 50 per dog, per night payable on-site. Derwent Manor is the former country residence of Alderman John Graves, three times Lord Mayor of Manchester. The apartments are the perfect base from which to explore Derwentwater, known as the Queen of the Lakes and the splendour of the surrounding area. Derwentwater marks a geological divide between the slate rock of Skiddaw in the north of the Lake District and the volcanic rock of Borrowdale and the rest of central Lakeland and this has helped to create the wonderful scenery for which it is famous. Our sister property, The Derwentwater Hotel, is opposite, and you can relax, drink or dine in comfort if you don't fancy cooking for yourself. The open fire in the Derwent Bar is a welcoming winter warmer! Our guests can now also enjoy access to Oxley's Spa at Underscar, just a short drive from the Apartments - with a Indoor Swimming Pool, Sauna, Jacuzzi, Steam Room and small Gym this is perfect after a long day walking (for over 16's only).

Down, down, down.
Met by hotel Manager supporting motivated happy staff.
Quality pristine accommodation, signed off by dedicated housekeeper. 7 day stays with 'free' champagne. Provided with a more than adequate welcome pack of essential food stuff. Silver service breakfast on the day of departure. If that's your bag, you're too late. That was Derwentmanor Apartments before Shearings took over. Now. Unmotivated staff. Keys handed over with no introduction/instruction to the Apartments facilities. Every room with light bulbs missing or broken. Poor paintwork in need of refurbishment. Numerous bits of wallpaper peeling off the walls. Smell of damp. Severe lack of investment since Shearings arrived on the scene. Just a one off experience. Definitely not. We have used the Derwentmanor Aptmts every year & have bit our lips as each year the price has risen whilst the quality & value for money has plunged. No more. What was a very pleasant place is now poor by every standard one can apply. We will never return or recommend them again.
Apartment was a bit dated, clean and comfortable
As we pulled up outside we were unsure as the entrance way looks a bit tired.
Our apartment was on the second floor and we were pleasantly surprised to find it was huge loads of room especially needed with 2 grown up children. It was a bit dated but clean and lovely and warm which we needed as we were staying on the wettest windiest weekend. It was really quiet and relaxing. The kitchen was well equipped with microwave and dishwasher. The only thing was the shower temperature was hard to regulate water was scalding or cold and occasionally we got it right. We enjoyed our stay despite the weather and would definitely use again.
