Excellent clean, contemporary accommodation, the only negative was the size of the room.
It was a double for single occupancy but I still found it 'compact' (a couple might struggle). Although the room was directly over the bar, and you could hear people below, I still had a good nights sleep. All facilities you would expect were provided (tea/coffee etc). The staff were extremely welcoming. The food was excellent.
Good hotel/pub staff let down by owner
It was a Friday night stay, Bank Holiday weekend, I travelled to St.
Bees to participate in a race on the Saturday. I had to check out a 5am so paid for the room and dinner before heading of to bed. I was slightly surprised to have a voice mail message explaining I hadn't paid for the room and could I go back. It was 6pm before I could call the Hotel, there was no reply but as it was Saturday evening on a B/H weekend they were very busy. Being only 5 minutes away at the end of the race I drove round and spoke to a very nice lady who explained she had spoken to the owner and it was all sorted.
Imagine my surprise on the Monday when I received a call from the owner of the hotel explaining I still hadn't paid!. Thankfully I think the chap in the background on the phone was the barman I paid and he corroborated my story - Nice hotel, great staff but keep your receipt.
