About the hotel
The York Priory was established in 1930 and was previously known as The Priory Hotel. It has been in the Jackson family for 3 generations. It is always fondly remembered by customers for the Twin Gothic Arches in the gardens, an original `Victorian Folly'.
The York Priory is decorated accordingly and has many original timeless features. Located just 15 minutes off the A64, and 15 minutes from York train station, The York Priory is incredibly easy to get to as well.
The guesthouse is perfectly located for the city centre attractions, shops and a host of lovely restaurants and bars. York city centre can be reached by a 15 minute walk, either by the main road or the beautiful scenic route by the river. Ideal for dog walkers. If walking is not your thing, there is a bus stop outside, where buses going to the city centre and the train station stop regularly. The guesthouse is located near to York Castle Museum (1 mile), York Minster (1. 2 miles), National Railway Museum (1. 6 miles) and the famous Betty's tea shop (1. 1 miles).
The York Priory has a choice of classic rooms designed for a comfortable overnight stay, or superior rooms perfect for those longer relaxing breaks as well as family and twin rooms. Cosy Classic rooms are all en-suite, and all have a flat screen TV and tea and coffee making facilities, whilst Superior rooms have the addition of free SKY TV including the movie package as well as luxury amenities, bath robes and takeaway spa slippers. The luxury 4 poster room includes a king size poster bed (as you would expect!), a large en-suite bathroom, as well as also including Sky TV with the movies package. The large adjoining family room sleeps 5 people over 2 rooms, with one superking bed and three singles. The York Priory offers all their guests free parking and unlimited use of free WIFI.
Breakfast is available, and consists of a continental cold buffet and a vast choice of cooked breakfasts from the menu cooked fresh every morning, using locally sourced ingredients, including the Priory English breakfast.
Guests can make use of the well-stocked bar, and enjoy the comfort of our lounge, Newspapers and SKY TV available in the living quarters. SKY Sports is available in the bar.
The York priory is proud to accept well behaved pets by prior arrangement (a small charge is applicable), and special terms and conditions will apply.
One thing to be assured, there is always a warm welcome from Liz Jackson and the team.
