Compact and bijou

The Redcliffe Hotel is tucked away a short walk from the railway station and is handy for nearby pubs, restaurants and takeaways.

I received a very warm and pleasant reception on my arrival, check-in was very efficient and I was soon on my way up to my room. I was a tad disappointed to find the room was a little more than a box room - I could almost touch all walls whilst standing in the centre - the single bed taking up most of the space available. The en suite bathroom was fine - a little cramped for my portly frame but otherwise OK. The usual tea & coffee facilities had an added bonus of bottled spring water and shortbread biscuits. I must have had the same room that a previous customer had reviewed - the sink plug was not attached to its chain and I ended up getting it jammed in the plughole (luckily I had my handy faux Leatherman pliers with me;-) and, more worryingly, I was unable to lock my room but as I was travelling light, did not worry too much.

Breakfast the following morning made up for any shortfalls - all the trimmings with nice coffee - superbly presented with lashings of toast.

I would happily stay at this hotel again but I would prefer a larger (and more secure) room.
