Blue Bell Hotel

It's ten years or so since we were last at the Blue Bell and I have to say that it is looking a bit tired from the outside and the mattresses definitely need bringing up to date.

However, the service (and that is the important thing) can not be faulted. We had a long and tiring journey up the A1 to Belford, but within five minutes of checking in the young lady on reception had organised a lovely pot of tea for us and we were sat in the lounge starting to unwind. The young man behind the bar gets my vote for the best hotel bartender of the year award; nothing was too much trouble for him (he even took time out to find us a toilet roll because we needed a new one in our room!). Breakfast was tasty and filling, to set us up for the day and our evening meal in the restaurant was very nice and served by efficient and attentive staff.

Breakfast waitress

A really young lady waited on us for breakfast.

She was extremely helpful with nothing being too much trouble. She had a very pleasant manner and I learned on paying my bill that it was her first day and she was thrown in the deep end as the usual waitress had not turned up. She should go far in the hospitality business. Food was excellent both at dinner and breakfast.
