Value for money with excellent hosts
Booked my room at last min due to change in meetings. Accessed via late room apps off my nexus 4 all worked well. Not an obvious place to find late at night as on main road hidden by wall but once located parking close to entrance. Very pleasant welcome despite the hour and the weather (pouring down with rain). Room was spacious with bathroom (no shower but i knew that when booking) Generally rooms a little tired but clean with lots of character. Good free wifi all around and the main dining room is lovely with lots of mementos of Mr Robinson's great grandfather who fought and survived at Balaclava. View to grounds pleasant on a sunny day I would imagine. Breakfast was excellent all freshly cooked and good choice.
Mr and Mrs Robinson are a lovely couple very helpful and this is an excellent value for money saty. Just don't expect modern hotel style or standards.

two nights stay
The main areas of the hotel look a little tired but clean and the room was excellent, similar in style to a Travelodge, clean and well appointed.
The chef was off the night we ate so the food on offer was limited, but was well presented and fine.
The staff were attentive and eager to please

Very tired and needs a tidy up. Shower not working and breakfast service slow. Definitely not the "pride of Batley" anymore.

Almost good
The room was fairly standard and was clean but the shower head in the bathroom was mouldy and the flow of water was poor. I opted for an 'Executive' room because I needed to use the internet to send information back to my employers but there was no internet during the 3 days I stayed. That was essential to me and means I could not stay here again. Had I known this before I booked I would have booked elsewhere. The start time for breakfast of 7am was also too late as I commeced work at 7:30..
Must, however, say that the staff were very friendly, and I was offered an alternative room. A number of the other guests were repeat customers and very satisfied with the hotel.
With a little more attention to detail this could be a really nice hotel.
