Basic accomodation which does need to tune up the services it does offer.
We stayed here as a last minute deal during what was unfortunately Valentine's weekend. We had a twin room which actually had 3 single beds. The shower was a dribble, the room was a bit cold and the tv didn't work. The sheets were clean but the walls had stains. Staff were pleasant and did their best. You come to this place knowing its a basic 2 star but would expect the sparse offerings of tv and shower to work better.

Dene Hotel Chester
Just wanted a cheap night away and stayed here 30yrs ago, wasn't sure about the 2 star but it was fine. Room was fine and bedding clean. Bed really comfy! Bathroom basic but clean apart from window frame which was black with mould.
My only gripe was that the curtains were uneven like 4/5" difference. I thought this was a shame as it was something that wouldn't cost anything to fix and would take minutes to solve.

Simple but perfect for needs
We booked the hotel very late on in the day and arrived within the hour. The room was simple but clean and tidy. Staff were very welcoming and the checking in and out process very easy. Definitely recommend for a weekend city break or for groups of men/women for a cheap break.

Weekend away
I stayed at this hotel for two nights in a twin room with a friend. I booked the hotel on laterooms.com the night before for an absolute bargain. The furniture was basic and minimalistic, but extremely clean. The hotel is based very near to the city centre and staff are helpful and friendly. The only small downfall was that the shower took a while to get to a decent temperature and there was no hook to hang wet towels. Putting that aside, I will definitely stay here again for the price!

Dene review
Nice place not far from train station and city center. The bad weather the day before meant the tv aerials were blown down so no tv the wifi was not working properly either the room was cold and the heater took ages to warm up as did the water.

A reasonable price workmans lodgings.Almost impossible to read in room due to max7watt bulbs fitted. despite request no extra lighting provided so one bulb purchased from the pound shop.

Value for money deal
For £31 per night one cannot expect too much. The room was clean and the bed surprisingly comfortable. Pillows were cheap though and required 'doubling-up'. Bathroom was clean with good shower and hot water. Disappointingly, the walls are paper thin and your neighbour's every action can be heard! Additionally, the lights are low energy versions and so you must wait for at least 15 minutes before it is bright enough to read...Take a torch!
