Great location, ok room, poor customer service!
Having never been to Chester before, my girlfriend and I booked this hotel as it was a reasonably priced 4* accommodation in walking distance from Chester city centre.
We arrived at roughly 6pm on the evening of our check in to be stood outside for five minutes ringing the bell to get someone's attention, we finally were seen to and checked in and asked what they would recommend to do in Chester. Our reply "do what you want really", which obviously didn't help as we haven't been to Chester before.
The room itself was clean, the bed relatively comfortable and ok for a two night break. The problem we did have, which was no fault of the hotel, was the other guests. On the first night they came back drunk at 3am trying to get into our room and waking us up and the second night they couldn't get into the hotel at 4am so they rang the doorbell repeatedly and still made a lot of noise outside the door. Again, I stress this was no fault of the hotels but if you struggle sleeping anyway, any noise is reverberated around the floor at which guest stay meaning you're woken several times. I couldn't fault the full English breakfast each morning though there was a lack of options as to other breakfast options. My main problem came as we were leaving the hotel, thinking that the bill had been settled through my Late Rooms booking as they asked for my card details and I presumed that this was settled. Though as we courteously said bye to the hosts, we were asked to pay the bill which I found uncomfortable and questioned because I was under the impression that I paid. I also did not want my girlfriend to know the price as I booked it as a gift to her. Even if the bill had to be paid at the hotel, I would of liked to know this when I arrived or at some point during my stay so it wouldn't come as such a shock when attempting to leave. Overall, there were many other minor issues we had with our experience at the hotel but Chester is such a fantastic place that it took nothing away from our weekend away. I would visit Chester again, I would just stay at different accommodation.
The ideal place to stay
We booked this last min as we were let down by one of the many premier inns in Chester.
What a bargain not only a bargain price, it was in an ideal spot close to the city centre. The house was spotlessly clean, warm and cosy, very friendly hosts and to top it off a fab tasty breakfast !. we defiantly will be revisiting!!
