Nice hotel, good service
Only stayed 1 night, I had requested the room early and when we arrived it was ready for us.
Cleanliness was good and it was very comfortable. The food was excellent and good value, staff were polite, efficient, and all very helpful. would stay there again.
Not quite 4 star
We attended a family function at the hotel and so stayed over.
The function room was adequate but dated. The food at the function was very good and the table service excellent. Our evening meal was also of a high standard with excellent service. The room was basic and quite well maintained but a little more attention to cleaning was required. Having stayed in hotels around the world I believe this is a 3 star but with a little updating it could become 4 star. The staff make this hotel.
We stayed in an executive room which was fine except the bed was rather hard even though we are used to a firm mattress.
The pillows were awful, needed replacing with new ones. Hotel not suitable for anyone with mobility difficulties or children in prams as no lift and lots of stairs. When we checked in the receptionist noticed I use arm sticks, she told us our room was up several flights of stairs would I be ok as there was no lift and she didn't want to down grade us. Not very tactful. Most rooms we were told are accessed by going outside of the main hotel building however on our last day we discovered a short cut that did not necessitate the trek. A shame this had not been mentioned when we checked in. Some staff could have been more pleasant and informative. Don't remember reading in the hotel info re no lift. Portion sizes at breakfast varied. I had pancakes each morning which were very nice on our first morning I was given 1 on the second morning I was given 2 and on the third morning ..... you've guessed I got 3, good thing we weren't staying for a week.
Best Western Oaklands Hall Hotel
Nice traditional hotel.
Can't wait to go back! Stunning!
I could not fault this place.
In terms of value for money, cleanliness and customer services, the team at Oaklands surpassed themselves. Our room was quiet, comfortable and so clean. The rate we paid for the room was so reasonable, that I had not expected too much. However, my prejudices were blown out of the water as soon as I entered the lobby and later the room. Staff at front of house were polite, well mannered and very professional. The star of the show though, for me, was the restaurant: The Comfy Duck. I was immediately impressed by the quality of service, the menu and the professionalism with which Mr Jafari ran the restaurant: his management of the young team was superb throughout. About the food, I do not have the words to express just how impressed I was. The freshness, presentation, imagination and love of ingredients was evident from the amuse bouche. The young chef, Steven Bennett clearly knows his flavours and how to balance them, with presentation that was nigh on flawless. I am truly shocked that this restaurant has just one rosette. I have been to Michelin Star restaurants that have failed to impress as much as the Comfy Duck. I can heartily recommend the Iced Fennel Parfait, not only for the textures, but the purity of flavour. Would I go back. You bet!
nice hotel, good location and very friendly staff - food excellent and bar staff very polite
Very good hotel with friendly and efficient staff.
Definitely would recommend

Grim in Grimsby
As late rooms is aware I spend a lot of my time away on business & most of time I have no reason to complain but this hotel was just awful - from room to service to food to lack of atmosphere - just failed on all fronts - it's the only hotel in the area but that does not make it good - does sterling local business in weddings but that because the local people don't know any better - compared to London Manchester Belfast & Brighton it is like stepping back 30 years!!!
