I can see all the reviews left are right, whether good or not so good, but this is a very good place to stay, lots of little touches to show that the family owners have thought about your stay, an excellent folder in the room kept up to date with local things to do and well written, everything you need and more and breakfast as good as you will find anywhere.

An owner with a good dry sense of humour which not everyone will realise, but very friendly welcome, even if you arrive after 10pm when you need to ring the bell

Call it a B&B

After a 3 hour journey we arrived in this small village with this hotel!.

and a pub. We were shown to our tiny room with a tiny shower room. The dark furniture did nothing to help the size of the room which although was very clean. was extremely basic. We had one spoon to mix the one hot chocolate which had to be rinsed to stir the other cup of tea. There were 2 shampoo sachets but not shower wash only a tiny soap. Never mind a good meal will make things better, but NO the owner said that he was not bothering to open the restaurant as no one had shown any interest!. Still we were recommended to go to the local pub. Would have been good if it had been serving food on a Friday night, I have never known 2 eateries in a very affluent village to be shut for food. Would I recommend this hotel. Not a chance. breakfast was reasonable if you only like one slice of toast to go with the large pot of marmalade and the hotel was clean, only good points.

Good value for money with a nice personal touch!

Stayed for one night while visiting family nearby - room was small but clean and warm, and breakfast was good.

Overall really good value for money. This is a family run hotel and the owner Mark was really chatty and nice - quite quirky sense of humour but then so is ours.

Peaceful break in the country

We booked this hotel at the last minute as we needed somewhere to stay for the night.

Mark and Nicola were excellent hosts and did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable. The food, both in the evening and at breakfast was excellent , both in it's presentation and taste. The room was nicely decorated with good attention to detail and had everything that we wanted. We hope to return.

Lovely hotel

Lovely hotel, were made to feel very welcome.

We were doing a charity trek the next day and had to be up very early, we asked them about sorting out a breakfast box so that we didn't start the walk on an empty stomach and they did, we were up at 4am and came down to some breakfast they had prepared which was very appreciated. The restaurant on site is also very good, my only complaint and it's not a massive one is that the food seemed to take ages to get to us, waiting over 30-45 minutes for our starter and again the same amount of time for our main - the restaurant wasn't even half full which seemed strange that we had to wait so long.. makes you wonder what they would have been like if they had of been full... food was excellent though when it arrived :)

Small hotel in a peaceful setting in rural Wiltshire.

Our room was on the small side and its decor dated.

The toilet and washbasin in the ensuite shower room appeared to be very old. We stayed during a period of very warm weather and the window in our room opened only partially. (We were grateful for the electric fan supplied.)

We ate in the hotel's restaurant and thought the food tasty and well prepared. We didn't mind waiting whilst the food was being cooked. Breakfast was good.
