Warm and welcoming with very good food!
The ladies behind the desk were very welcoming and friendly, and the restaurant staff very polite. Home made flapjacks were a welcome treat in the room on arrival, as was the availability of the gym, jacuzzi, pool and sauna! We enjoyed it so much we returned 2 days later and we're allowed to stay in the same room which was nice. The only gripe (and it is a minor one at that!) is that the heated towel rail didn't work so we couldn't dry out swim wear. Aside from that, an outstanding place to stay and we would thoroughly recommend it!

Nice Peacful location
We had a very pleasant 4 night stay at this peaceful country residence located on edge of Dartmoor.
The staff were courteous and helpful. We had only managed to book a standard room, via Late Rooms.com, due to unavailability for the 2nd night of our stay, which was a Saturday. But, on arrival, the reception staff were kind enough to find us an upgrade on the 1st floor, which although larger and more pleasant, with windows overlooking the front garden, was rather expensive at £165/nt; especially as the bathroom and the general décor need to be upgraded. The plus side was that the bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet.
We had dinner in the main restaurant on our 1st night and although the food was very good- as was the view, the restaurant lacked ambience. They need to pay more attention to detail and ensure that the setting, décor and the service is on a par with that of an award winning establishment; e.g. serving of what looked and tasted like ordinary, off the shelf, sliced bread with the entrée was disappointing!
We also had dinner at the Blue Tiger Inn, which was very pleasant. Highly recommend their home-smoked salmon.
