Very clean and comfortabe
would use this hotel again , great quality breakfast , something for everyone and more..
My only criticism is the air con was not cold at all we asked about it and the man told us that's as good as it gets it will cool down later , but unfortunately it didn't so although I had a good night sleep it was too hot in the room.. Other than that everything was lovely
Good value hotel convenient for ExCeL and London City Airport
Booked over a year in advance for a three day event at the ExCeL, with three further days for leisure in London.
Location is pretty good for the ExCeL and London City. It's also nice to be a little out of the city centre in that the air is a little more breathable. The room was clean and generally pleasant, but a little lacking in furniture (only three tiny drawers and six hangars). Bed was comfortable. Breakfast (buffet) was generally good, staff generally helpful and public areas pleasant.
I was pleasantly surprised to find that what I had thought was a "room only" booking was in fact B&B, so got to take advantage of the breakfasts. Restaurant and bar prices were "very reasonable for London". The adjacent "Fox at Connaught" pub/hotel was well worth a visit or two.
Travel into London involved a 10 minute walk to the Prince Regent DLR station and typically took about 35-45 minutes. On our last day, having suffered in the heat on the Underground the previous couple of days, we took the DLR to Westferry, which is about a 5 minute walk from the Canarty Wharf pier for the River Bus - an altogether more pleasant way to travel into central London. If you don't mind cable cars you could combine this with a bit of a walk and the "Air Line" cable car over the Thames to the O2. There's a good selection of (mostly chain) restaurants, cinema, etc. at the O2, as well as the main events arena.
The only real negatives: furniture (drawers in particular!) a bit lacking. The air con in the room was ridiculously loud when running (but the room stayed pleasant even with the highest temperatures of the year at about 33-35 C) - I didn't get around to reporting this to reception until we were leaving, so no idea if it was a simple problem they could easily fix (and it clearly wasn't so bad as to be a major problem). The hotel operates a shuttle to Canary Wharf, but weren't prepared to run us 5 minutes round the corner to London City (I can see why they might fear a massive commitment if they did officially run an "Airport Shuttle" though).

Excellent weekend base for central london
This hotel was excellent as it's a stones throw from London City Airport, has rail stop 700 yards away DLR which links easily with the direct lines to central London.
The food/breakfast were excellent and the staff very helpful, with maintenance being very sharp having fixed a leaky shower hose (renewed) within the time required to have breakfast a short walk and a nosey along the waterside. I would definitely return as it allows access to the city and airports whilst staying removed from the madness.

A very pleasant stay
I was visiting a trade event at the ExCel Centre.
Make sure you take the DLR to the Prince Regent stop if arriving by train. The nearest convenience store is about a half-hour's walk. However, the welcome was friendly and professional and I appreciated a warm cookie after a long, wet walk. My colleague and I shared a twin room which was well-appointed with comfortable, good-sized single beds. The corridors do all look the same, so pay attention to the signs as it's easy to get lost.
good but needs improvement
Doubletree had only taken over the hotel 3 weeks prior to our stay so Im sure things will improve even more.
The hotel was in a good location and our room was excellent with a view over the Thames and very well equipped. Unfortunately the ice machine had broken so G&T with no ice was not great but staff soon provided the ice so not too bad. Staff were polite and helpful but there could have been more warmth and friendliness, we stayed at the Hilton hotel in Arundel 3 weeks prior to this stay and the comparison with the staff there was very different. The staff in the restaurant were rushed off their feet (literally running !) the food when we got it was very good but there were long waits and some items never arrived. The staff were very apologetic which was appreciated. Overall an enjoyable stay with just a couple of minor disappointments
