Fantastic two night stay at The George Inn.
Enjoyed a fabulous 2 night stay at The George Inn over bank holiday weekend.to celebrate wedding anniversary.
The atmosphere, and vibe of the place was just great. Food was very good. Excellent quality and reasonably priced. Breakfast (range of options and portion size) was a wonderful experience. The room we stayed in (Room 2) was decorated in a slightly quirky (almost gothic) style (dark maroon walls with gold wash on a feature wall) - great ambience. The bed was extremely comfortable, and bathroom very 'chique'. Ellie, the manageress was very friendly and efficient, and all staff were very friendly. Would love to come back and stay in Winter time, when the log fires (there were a number of small dining room areas, each with an open fire) would serve to add even more atmosphere to this delightful hotel.
Relaxed and friendly pub accommodation
A great staff team created a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere in a beautiful old pub.
The George Inn
I've stayed at 'The George Inn' a few times now.
The room is clean and lovely with comfortable beds. Compliments must go to the chef though as I've had superb meal after superb meal. Looking forward to my next stay.
A quirky friendly Inn
There were a few problems when we got there, the plumbing in old coaching inns like this can be temperamental and we had to move rooms because of it.
The rooms however are absolutely individual in decoration, size and character and the beds are wonderfully comfortable. The staff are, without doubt, the friendliest we have come across, and special mentions go to Richard (Head Chef) Laura (Manager supreme!) Ellie, Mat, Tim and Adrian - bar staff extraordinaire. The owner Gordon is a nice chap who was tackling the plumbing issue when we left on Monday morning ; nice to see an owner who doesn't mind rolling up his sleeves and getting down to the nitty gritty. We will go back, we plan on taking our daughter and a friend next year - we need two rooms Gordon!
