4AA Assessed Bed and Breakfast Ratings explained
Martleaves Farm, South Road, Wyke Regis, Weymouth, DT4 9NR
Visit Swallows Rest and discover Dorset, a county of outstanding natural beauty which boasts England’s World Heritage Site known as the Jurassic Coast, with rolling hills, breath taking countryside, beautiful villages, and sandy and award winning beaches. We're on the South West Coastal Path National Trail with 630 miles of superb coastline, one of the top walks in the world. The heritage, wildlife, geology and scenery along the way are truly inspirational. At the bottom of our land is Chesil Beach and the Fleet Saltwater Estuary which runs along to Abbotsbury. Our Bed & Breakfast rooms, beautifully decorated with an eclectic mix of furniture, are named after birds which frequent the Fleet Nature Reserve: Merganser, Redshank, Sandpiper & Little Tern. Our rooms cost from £75 for double occupancy and from £50 for single occupancy. Chocolates and home made cakes, tea and coffee are served in the bedrooms on Denby and Wedgewood china collections. We use Egyptian cotton bedding and towels and luxurious shower gels and hair products. Original artwork by Roger Smith, the owner's son, of Jurassic Coast Gallery is displayed throughout the property. Rooms have sea views of the Fleet Saltwater Estuary and Chesil Beach across the field where the horses, alpacas and sheep graze. Guests have access to the gardens, the summer house and fields with a footpath through our land leading down to the sea which is just 300 metres from the farm house. We use our chicken, bantam and duck eggs for breakfast, dry cured bacon and sausages from local butchers, and homemade cakes, granola, jams and marmalade are our speciality. We have a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Archie. Our pet pigs George & Mildred wander freely in the gardens along with rare breed chicken, ducks and beautiful bantams. In the fields we have Wiltshire Longhorn sheep and horses, including Fudge a gorgeous blond Shetland pony, Charlie & Coco miniature Shetland ponies and Alpacas Kim, Barney & Angus.

Swallows rest
The house is situated in quite a built up area - the couple are very nice and the accommodation is nice but the situation is not isolated as we had hoped - it is on the edge of a housing development
the landscape at the seafront is dominated by MOD fencing and we didnt enjoy

Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review. We're sorry you didn't enjoy your overnight stay at the farm, the vast majority of our guests love it here thankfully! Our 35 acres of land leading down to Chesil Beach is home to our horses, alpacas and sheep and they have to be fenced in I'm afraid. The South West Coastal Path runs through our Nature Reserve and the thousands of walkers who visit need to feel safe and separate from our horses, some of whom are very large, but friendly and beautiful! The fence is normal farm stock fencing and less than 4 foot high. If you'd had the time to stay longer I feel you would definitely have appreciated the amazing Jurassic Coastline and surrounding area. Jane & Keith at Swallows Rest

Lovely Bed & Breakfast Jane & Keith a lovely couple. Their garden is beautiful with chickens and 2 pigs George and mildred which I loved. Lovely summerhouse just to sit and relax. The room has a beautiful view of the Portland as much tea and coffee as you can drink. It was my birthday while I was there and they gave us bucks fizz for breakfast to celebrate. Lovely couple.

Relaxing and peaceful stay
Only 10 mins from Weymouth harbour, with land stretching down to Fleet nature reserve and Chesil Beach. We enjoyed and new well appointed cottage. The gardens are extensive and attractive and for us, were complemented by free ranging pigs, chickens and ducks. Breakfast that included very local duck eggs and pork was superb. We hope to return

Made very welcome by Jane on our arrival after a long drive. Delighted with our room and the stunning views. Room tastefully decorated and beds were comfortable with plenty of tea and coffee available, together with home made cakes. Breakfast was plentiful and freshly cooked to order.
