Relaxing night away
I was staying at Hay Meadow Farm because the following morning I had a course I was attending.
Upon arrival my breath was taken as the sight of this beautiful thatched house came into my view. It was like a movie set, perfect. Duncan answered the door to me, very warm welcome as he carried my bag in and up to my room. It really is such a beautiful place inside and out. My room was beautiful and beautifully furnished, all was very tasteful, clean and tidy. I had an en suite shower room, beautifully clean and fresh with lovely thick white towels. I had a TV with a DVD player in my room and plenty of really good movies to choose from. Also a digital radio that I turned to the classical channel, which for me with none of my children in tow and a double bed to myself was simply heavenly bliss. Duncan cooked the most enormous onion, pea, broccoli and cheese omelette and sliced tomatoes side for my supper. I ate in the sitting/dining room with beautiful inglenook fire place and pleasant music, again tastefully furnished. Duncan couldn't have been more lovely and helpful, a great host. I then spent a relaxing evening in my room listening to classical music, sitting on my double bed reading in my PJ's with a lovely thick feather duvet and crisp fresh pillows. I had a huge bottle of water in my room and tea and coffee making facilities. Shampoo, conditioner and shower gel were provided for me. The shower was a large double shower with a great fast flowing shower head. A great night sleep, very quiet, shame I had to get up really. Breakfast was scrambled eggs and really tasty bacon, fruit of several kinds all beautifully ripe with a cup of tea. I can not think of a single think to main about. It really was a lovely relaxing stay with everything just as I liked it. I would thoroughly recommend Hay Meadow Farm to anybody. A stunning setting in the most beautiful thatched cottage in the heart of Devon with great food and hospitality, what more could you ask for. Duncan is a lovely chap. Go there and find out for yourself.
What a Wonderful idyllic place to stay, we had a lovely relaxing week.
Great food, great hosts and the most perfect cottage you could ever imagine.
Can't wait to return.
Beautiful setting, despite the cold wet weather.
It was lovely to light the woodburner in our room too. The food was superb; thoughtfully cooked and presented and the portions were more than generous. Fresh veg and strawberries from the garden were so yummy - thank you!
Idyllic Location, Wonderful Hosts and Great Food!
A beautiful thatched cottage, in the heart of the Devon countryside, fabulous hospitality, great food, peaceful, relaxing setting - definitely returning!
A great place in every way.
a piece of history
A beautiful home full of character and warmth.
The clover room was very comfortable, with a very comfortable bed. The breakfast was cooked to order, and nothing was too much trouble. A very laid back place to have a holiday
Best night's sleep!
Thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend stay at this lovely cottage.
Host Duncan very welcoming and attentive to our needs. Breakfast truly excellent - hot, plentiful and loads of choice. Enjoyed an evening meal from an extensive menu with very locally sourced produce, including the best steak I've eaten. Nothing was too much trouble for either ourselves or Duncan's other guests, including a young family. The cottage and surroundings were so quiet at night and together with the comfy bed and duvet we enjoyed the best quality sleep ever from a B&B or hotel. Will definitely return!
