Reviews - The Cricket Inn

4AA Assessed Inn Ratings explained
Beesands, Kingsbridge , Beesands, TQ7 2EN
The Cricket Inn first opened its doors in 1867 and is within the small fishing village of Beesands nestled within the idyllic South Hams countryside only metres from the sloping beach and crystal clear waters of Start Bay. To the NE. of the bay we have Dartmouth Harbour Entrance and to the SE. the Start Point Lighthouse one of the most southerly points in mainland UK.

The Cricket is a welcome gathering place for both locals and visitors alike, offering real ales, great wines and fantastic food, the menu has an abundance of fresh seafood and local produce including locally reared beef & lamb plus locally grown vegetables but one thing we can guarantee is that the crab, lobster and scallops were caught in the bay in front of the Inn.

We offer 7 beautifully appointed rooms decorated in a New England style five with unrivalled views of the crystal clear waters of Start Bay. Each room offers en-suite facilities fully tiled with 1200 x 900mm walk in showers and heritage white ware. King size beds with very comfortable pocket sprung mattresses and the single beds are full size, all linens are cotton with sumptuous feather and down quilts.

Large flat screen TV’s are wall mounted with multi channels and most have built in DVD’s (Lords family room has two TV’s). Rooms have Tea and Coffee making facilities and come with complementary bottled water and biscuits. We offer a room make up service for those requiring it each morning plus fresh towels if required but let’s not forget that full Devonshire breakfast.

A delightful spot
Thoroughly enjoyable stay but approaching roads are not for the faint hearted. A pearl of a place to discover in beautiful Devon! Beautifully appointed restaurant cleverly designed to meet the needs of regulars and guests alike, with excellent food and pleasant and attentive service. Breakfast wonderful - no sliced bread either but bread cut from a hearty loaf!! Would certainly recommend but Beesands is quite isolated so be prepared that travelling to other nearby resorts/attractions takes a little time.

Wonderful
Lovely pub, outstanding food, beautiful rooms, stunning location. Lots of walks right on your doorstep. Great place to sit outside with a beer and worth getting up to see the sunrise if your lucky enough to get a room with a sea view. I know I'll be going back... and check out the old style cinema in Kingsbridge 10 mins away. PS sat nav is useful in the dark!

Had a really lovely stay, rooms were gorgeous, beautiful decorated and with a breath taking view of the sea just outside the window.. Couldn't really ask for more. Staff were more than helpful and breakfast was divine. Defiantly worth the money, will certainly be visiting again!

Excellent
Really nice pub in a great location. I have been visiting the south hams for many years and think this is one of the nicest places we have stayed.

The room we stayed in was very clean and fresh. We were a little bit disappointed not to get a room with a sea view that we were hoping for. However, it made no difference as in the evening you can sit outside next to the sea and when having breakfast in the morning, it wad lovely how they opened up all the doors. I guess we were very lucky to have a very hot weekend! overall we had a fantastic weekend away.

Confident drivers only!
We stayed for 3 nights at this pub, two of them with friends. Once you have navigated the tiny, winding lanes, and prayed that you don't meet anyone coming in the oposite direction, the end result is worth it. Beesands is very quiet, no shops, and only the one pub. We received a very warm welcome and all the staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed in room 4 which was a family room ( booked late, so all that was left), so we had plenty of space. The room could do with a more sound insulation as the bar was below and voices could be heard clearly. But it doesn't stay open late, so not a major issue.
Lovely walks close by, especially nice walk to the lighthouse and a cold G and T to come back to, sitting outside the pub in the sun. Bliss.

Wonderful Stay!!
My husband and I had a wonderful stay at this hotel which was very friendly, clean, beautiful decorated with tasty food! All I could say is that having the privilege of being so close to the sea you are restricted to eat at the hotel unless you want to jump in the car every night and the food and drink is expensive because of the isolated location otherwise it was perfect!
