Might as well have been a night in a haunted house
Upon arrival the lodge we rang on the door for 5 minutes to find no answer but the door unlocked, walking in it looked quite nice and clean and thought maybe the owners we in another room.
Searching around we found no one. Just a number of rooms with keys in the doors. After about half an hour of waiting and my partner starting to get worried I made the decision of just picking a random room and staying in it. The rooms were small but decorative. Slightly old fashioned with outdated shower and sink etc, the bed was comfy and can't really complain about the actual building. In the morning once again nobody was in the building. Quite scary place to be. We went around the lodge expecting to be able to order breakfast but once again you guessed it, nobody there, we finally have up and went to for a walk to a pub called the old inn for breakfast ( I would recommend this place, much friendlier atmosphere). We spent two nights at the lodge and were happy to get going out of the lodge ASAP. Do not recommend unless you like super privacy.
The Lodge August 2015
We had a great time.
The Lodge doesn't serve food, but that was fine as basically we just wanted somewhere to sleep. The housekeeper met us and sorted out the keys etc, but then just left us to it. They are dog friendly, this was a must. We stayed for two nights, I would happily stay there again.
Lodge hotel stay
We had an awful overnight stay.
No communication from hotel so we arrived not having a clue where I room was. No staff at all on site to help. Eventually through a phone call to housekeeper found room. Room didn't supply enough bed linen or pillows. Bathroom was unclean and stank of drains. The door had a huge hole in it. Kitchen was dirty and no hot water at all during our stay.
Scary, haunted empty hotel
We were informed that this hotel was self-service but didn't realise that meant you had to find you way in via a key fob that didn't work so entered via unlocked patio doors.
Very spooky as no one was in the hotel apart from my husband and myself with lots of open doors. No reception or receptionist to greet you. We wondered around the hotel until we found room no 7 with a key in the door. We locked ourselves in but was terrified and had trouble sleeping. The toilet/water system made a terrible growling noise, there was no hot water coming out of sink tap and the bathroom radiator was scalding hot. If they hadn't have already taken our money, we would have left immediately and gone elsewhere. It was a relief to leave 3 days later!
Althought we had no complaints whatsoever, it was strange to stay somewhere where we didn't get to see any staff at any point!
Fantastic time at Old Vicarage ( lodge Hotel)
The help and service provided was excellent.
Thank you to Cheryl and Clive for going out of your way to make our stay amazing
Rooms had cobwebs & smelt mouldy, however, the only saving grace is that we had the attic room which gave our own kitchen & lounge area.
Plus our car was damage in the car park & there are no cameras.
Lodge Hotel Malborough
Very quiet as hotel is for sale and just ticking over.
One member of staff on hand to let us in. Very polite and helpful. We were able to use the staff kitchen to prepare our own meals. Like being in a posh Youth Hostel. (Continental breakfasts are offered at an extra cost). Room comfortable and clean. Good shower and v. hot radiator in bathroom. TV reception poor. Pleasant decor and 2 pubs very close by. The Old Inn does excellent dinners.
Goldilocks Visits Malborough
Thought I'd booked a twin for single occupancy but the room had 3 beds.
Someone - a guest - locked me out on Friday night. Luckily the housekeeper lives on site. Stayed here a few years back and it's changed. I think it's on the market and it's being run on a very basic room only basis at present. Another guest set the fire alarm off at 07:15 on Sunday morning.
