100% would recommend it to a friend
The Inn is an amazing building it's like being transported back in time. Lovely rooms.Excellent food
We stayed in the George Inn which is a fantastic old building with dark oak interiors and bedrooms filled with period furniture.
The food was lovely and served very quickly. There was a good choice of breakfast options. There is a great view from the beer garden across the fields to the church and the village is worth a walk around. Just be aware that the George also own the Plaine guesthouse, which is a Georgian house over the road (which also looks very nice). If you want to make sure you have a room in the Inn I would recommend that you phone the George Inn directly rather than using an on line booking agency, to ensure you get the room you want. Also not all rooms have breakfast included in the price, so check this as well. The Inn is 7 miles south of Bath.
The George Inn
Had a fabulous time staying at the George.
The staff were friendly and the room was beautiful. It was a wonderful time and I will definitely be coming back!
A very enjoyable experience
Friendly, efficient ,caring staff made the stay memorable.
Good accommodation in annexe across street from the hotel, modern, smart and comfortable Food very good and exceeded our expectations
and all the staff seemed to want us to enjoy our stay with them. Will certainly stay here again if we are in the area.
Full of character....
The photographs on Laterooms give you some idea how old this building is.
If you want to stay in a hotel full of character this is the one for you. All the modern conveniences but I still felt I was back in time. The room we stayed in had old wooden floorboards, beams and a four poster bed. It was like the rest of the hotel, amazing. We had an evening meal and breakfast ( Breakfast was included in the price). All the food was served hot and was excellent. All the staff were really nice and friendly. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone!
Fantastic place to stay
Booked at last minute for overnight stop on route.
Turned up in a lovely little village with the hotel looking full of character both inside and out. The pub is a little maze with rooms scattered around but this is in staying with a building 700 years old. We stayed in a gorgeous room with the furniture keeping with the age of the hotel. Had a quick bite to eat in the bar and then a few drinks in there lovely garden. Will return AAAA.
The George Inn
Historic inn full of character and original features
If a sense of history is what you're after, this is the place for you.
The Duke of Monmouth was based here during the Pitchfork Rebellion of 1685. He came to a sticky end though, and there's a nice account of his demise posted in the room he stayed in. The hotel is full of original features but even so the accommodation is clean, tidy and comfortable. All for a very reasonable price.
Beautiful room in a stunning historical location
We were able to enjoy the historical atmosphere of the main Inn at dinner and breakfast and the beautiful modern comforts of our room in the guest house.
The beds were comfy, the tea and coffee plentiful and the baths much appreciated. We ate dinner at the Inn and found the food delicious as well as being astonishingly good value for money considering the outstanding quality of the food. Would highly recommend this to anyone!
The George Inn
Beautiful coaching inn full of history and character.
Will definitely stay here again
Mid week break
We used to come to this pub for a drink when we were first married, but then moved out of the area.
So when we were looking for a break, we saw this hotel on the website and just had to give it a go.
We certainly were not disappointed, the most marvellous accommodation, food and friendly service. We will be back.
