We were up from Devon and stumbled across this place.
What an excellent choice we made. The rooms were spacious with own cooking facilities so we could make our own breakfast. The bed was really comfy and slept like a log right through. The bit that made all the difference was the fact that the landlord from the local pub collected us and brought us back to the hotel.
Coach House at Hele
Room clean and tidy and everything is very good order.
Shower broken when we arrived but very soon fixed by plumber. One or two things need doing like a toilet roll holder is needed, and some coat hangers in the wardrobe, but nothing major. My only doubt is whether it is value for money at £60 a night, I would have thought £45-50 more like it, but I may be a bit out-of-date on this.
A very basic B&B.
Breakfast consisted of food being left in your room to have when you wake, not made and served to you in a dining area.
Response from hotel
I could not welcome these guests as, by arrangement, they arrived after mid-night. Since the review, I have assured guests that the fact that breakfast items are within the rooms will be clarified. The guests said that the floor had not been cleaned properly, and I have spoken to the cleaner. Room quality and value for money is a matter of opinion, but I make every effort to ensure satisfaction. Regarding food quality, breakfast was barely touched, although fresh croissants were included, and the yoghurts are organic. A little frankness on leaving would have been preferable to smiles, and then a poor review.
Quite remote, breakfast very basic, bathroom very small.
Response from hotel
I wish to comment briefly on this recent review. The location is not remote. There is a 20 minute bus service into Exeter, and by road it takes about 15 minutes to the city centre, as also for the airport. In any case, guests choose the location themselves. 'Service' as such is inappropiate for this property, where the emphasis is on guests' privacy and freedom to come and go. I did, however, make a telephone call to get advice about the guests' best route for their onward journey. Most of the various items for breakfast were left untouched. I asked whether everything had been to their satisfaction, and was assured that it was.
