Hotel attached to a lovely pub.
So long as you're not planning on sleeping before midnight for top noise from the pub or past 615am when the delivery truck arrives, and don't have your heart set on the room on the site you'll enjoy this hotel. The room we had was adequate for a hotel at half the price. The bathroom could have been cleaner. The breakfast, however was great.
Had an amazing stay.
Ross is brilliant!
FROME more like Rome
The Welcome was warm and friendly.
Taken to our room personally by the landlord. The room itself lovely and bath to die for which I loved and used both nights. A tad unpractical for wanting a quick shower. I loved the fact there were a lot of original features to the building but of course that comes with very creeky floorboards. the room could also have done with a dust other than that very very clean. Food was amazing ate in the courtyard with lovely surrounding. The bar and restaurant was lovely too. Good variety and value for money. And breakfast was fresh and filling.
There is no customer csr park so must pay in the local car park.
The email confirmation we received from Laterooms said there was onsite parking but when we arrived the entrance was on a very narrow one way street with no sign of parking.
We arrived early evening but the reception seems to be unmanned at this time so you have to go to the bar to be seen. This was problematic as we were driving around and ringing and no-one answered the phone, over a 30 minute time period. This meant we had to pull over and run into the hotel to ask where the car park was, and then none of the staff we spoke to seemed to be very sure themselves and gave very vague directions. We were finally told there actually wasn't any onsite parking but there was a car park round the corner that was free until 9am, and then you had to pay. I just felt that it was slightly misleading and also that at the very least the staff should be able to tell you where to go. I was also surprised there did't seem to be any reception cover. Having said all of this, the staff were all very nice and I couldn't fault them for friendliness. The room was well done and looked great but we were overlooking a flat roof and a car park so the curtains had been fixed shut, which made it feel very dark. The car park we were next to turned out to be staff entrance for the Iceland behind, and at 7am we were woken by delivery lorries and staff arriving, who then sat under our window chatting loudly while they waited to go in. All in all, it was a decent enough room and the staff were friendly but I do feel that it was slightly overpriced for what it was.
Dont be fooled
By the photos on the web page ....
my room was the size of a prison cell, not particularly clean. I could rest my chin on the sink whilst sitting on the toilet ...
A few improvements and it would have been perfect
Really warm welcome staff couldn't have been better, the room was clean just a bit dusty and more attention should have been paid to the bath and bath room.
Lovely real coffee in the room, would have been nice to have the the tea and sugar pots filled only allowed for 1 cup.. We had a meal in the restaurant it was superb as was the breakfast 10/10. Great quirky hotel, will definitely be back.
Quirky with Exceptional Staff and Customer Service
The Archangel was recommended by a Frome local and also a customer of mine which I welcomed and booked accordingly.
Situated in the centre of Frome Market Town, The Archangel is pretty much what is say’s on “The Tin” (otherwise known as their website!). We were welcomed by (unknown to us at the time) Eve, The Manager and without any fuss swiftly booked us in and showed us our room (8) in the courtyard. The Room is quirky, well apportioned, and spacious and has all amenities required although no outlook from windows being on ground floor in middle of town (not an issue). Complimentary Soft Drinks in the Mini Bar was a hidden plus. We had an early evening drink in the bar which is well laid out and attended too by very sociable staff. Our downside to the stay was that the room was inefficiently sound proofed and the noise from the quests / clientele in the courtyard and bar was overwhelming. We called reception and left a message voicing our displeasure at not being able to sleep due to the excessive noise level from the courtyard. Breakfast was very good, continental choice was minimal bit the cooked breakfast was excellent and fresh coffee the ideal start to the day. At checkout we answered the receptionist question on whether we had a good stay with the feedback on the noise from the previous night. Eve (The Manager mentioned earlier in review) was standing within earshot and immediately made it known that she had picked up our voicemail from the previous night and explained the whole situation regarding the excessive noise levels the night before. The issue was explained and managed very professionally and we left The Archangel promising to return in the future. Full marks to Eve and her Team, Excellent Customer Service is hard to come by these days – owners take note ;-)
Great location, lots of character, friendly and helpful staff.
Food disappointing both in the restaurant and at breakfast.
Had a great stay! Welcoming, comfy room and good value for money
Had a really lovely stay, staff were welcoming and the room was comfortable and clean with some nice touches, but a little hot, even with the fan on all night - could do with some air con.
Breakfast included and was very nice, all in all very good value for money, and would definitely stay again and recommend to family and friends.
Will definiately stay again!!
This hotel was gorgeous, the staff were lovely, and the food was out of this world.
I was a little disappointed with the room but that was because of late rooms being misleading. We will stay again but we will book direct with the hotel
