I have to use a sleep mask and this was the only hotel of our stay where there was no socket outlet to plug it into.
Therefore my sleep was not good.
The room was comfortable and bed fine.
Excellent, efficient service but flexible and friendly too.
Having made a mistake about the type of room I needed, the difficulty was somehow miraculously corrected with very little fuss.
Derick Greig the manager, Dumitru, Simon, Elena, Sarah and others all make a fine team. I like the new decor too.
Only suggestion… a lift!
Avoid this mediocre inn with lack lustre management
Faulty towers without the comedy.
The building is very nice, the location beautiful and when the manager is replaced and a professional manager who values and trains the very nice staff that work here in providing quality service, this will be a good inn to stay at. Until then..... Was very nice getting dressed and driving to the 24 hour Tesco in Glastonbury on Saturday night, about 10:10pm, to pick up a sandwich as the evening staff at this four inn were unable to make something at this late hour.
The morning breakfast was highlight. I've used the fruit salad recipe at home and it's gone down a treat - chopped apple and pineapple smothered in value orange juice. But do get down early because once it's gone, they won't replenish it. Baked beans are best served when left to cook in the pan all morning and wow, a limp slug of mushroom slinking seductively over two half tomatoes. Non resident's have to pay £12.50, but we were lucky to have it included.
The most interesting part of the breakfast experience is staff not presuming they know what you need in advance. Eat with fingers or ask for a spoon. Don't get bored by asking for tea once, enjoy reminding staff a couple of times, wets the appetite. Toast/bread is delivered un-conventially half way through the breakfast, which is a nice twist.
Now the manager, is quite something. A strong believer in the early riser catches the worm, his recent appointment to the hotel last November has completely transformed this inn from something that was probably very good into, well farcical inn keeping. He is very happy with what he sees and feels everything is great. It's good practice keeping a place clean by squirting cleaning products on tables near to you while eating or having a drink. Everybody at his inn has a great time and nobody is dissatisfied. Although other guests have looks of displeasure and frustration, the manager has these amazing glasses, not available on Amazon, that turns negatives into positives.
It's not problem for a couple to be put into a room adjoining a very busy family room and not in another part of the inn. It's always nice to change rooms when you start the holiday. Still the second room was cosy. I can only recommend that if you are looking for a break, a trip away, you completely and totally avoid this.
The hotel was lovely with the exception of a very hard bed.
Rooms were clean and generally good.
The shower was lovely although it didn't get very hot. The duvet was a little on the thin side and a bit small for the bed. Breakfast was lovely and there was a good selection. We ate in the restaurant one night as it has an AA rosette. Starters were good but for mains both of our meats (duck and venison) were very overcooked and generally the food in the restaurant was very overpriced for the quality. Overall it was a decent stay but not somewhere I would return to.
Wow, what an excellent find.
This place is off the beaten track, but more than worth it. The welcome from the very professional staff, the quality of the room were both 5 stars. However the food was something else. If it were possible to give 6 stars we would. The quality was as good if not better than Michelin starred places we have eaten in. We will definitely be returning.
A one-night stay
Hotel was excellent - everything was first class.
The only down side really is the location. But, of course, if it was nearer or in the town centre, it would cost three times as much. Its only 3.5 miles from Wells, which is a magnificent city to visit and its got many interesting towns in the locality. Yes, we will stay there again - we were treated very well.
shepton stop over
this was a v pleasant place to stay an ideal base for our stop
We stayed one night for our wedding anniversary the hotel staff were very friendly and professional.
The room was lovely a bit on the small side but lovely double shower bed was excellent very comfortable would highly recommend this hotel the food was excellent.
This was our second stay at this lovely place.
The service is replete with a smile and much west country friendliness. The room is gorgeously appointed and the food is simply divine. The renovated parts of the hotel are modern, tasteful and fun; the older parts need some attention, but they do not detract too much from what is otherwise a v enjoyable environment. Having stayed at several hotels in the area (including the fabulous Ston Eastern Park), this is by far the best value overall.
