5 Star Service
I booked this hotel the morning of the start of my stay and must agree with other reviewers in that the customer service was equal to any customer service I've received in 5 star hotels.
The front desk was friendly, helpful, and efficient. All I had to do was walk into the lobby and anything I wanted was taken care of (taxis, directions, special requests). There was not in-room iron and I requested this at the front desk. By the time I reached my room on the 4th floor, it was already waiting for me. The shower was modern and wonderful and the beds were very comfortable. Small room but it's London so that is to be expected. The hotel is situated in a quiet residential section of Paddington. Approximately a 10 min. walk to the undergrounds (there are 2 of them). Would definitely recommend this hotel as you cannot beat the price (1/2 of what I've paid at other hotels).
We have just come back from London, this hotel has the tiniest rooms we have ever stayed in, the first room in the basement had about 12" around the bed to get by, the window allowed the tiniest amount of natural light in and to get into the bathroom, you had to move a chair, fortunately there was no where to move it too.
I asked at reception if all the rooms where this bad and she said that as the hotel was in a Victorian building that they got smaller the further up you went, but she did offer to show me another room, this did give you 2' around the bed to navigate around the room and the window did allow natural light in, however the window only open 1" so you could only get a slight breath of air in the room. The bathroom was a wet room, 4' x 3' so you could only use the room as either a shower room or a loo, or use your towel to dry the floor to use the loo again. Breakfast was very good on the first morning, good food and service, but this morning the service was terrible, the tea and coffee took 3 requests and 20 mins to arrive and another guest had there table cleared away whilst they where choosing the cooked breakfast. I feel that this hotel offers very poor value for money and would not recommend it.
The Park Grand London Paddington
Able to adjust temperature. Lots of facilities, ironing board, coffee making facilities, fridge, safe, desk .t.v. Internet connection. Very comfortable also very quiet.
Certainly not a 4 star and NOT value for money
never seen/been in such a dingy dark room.
Bathroom was 4footx6foot and could not be used after taking shower. Really very disappointing and all that for £125 a night, should be £30. Certainly not to be recommended and will not be returning.
I have paid a £124 per luxury room, the room was not luxury, but basic, we stayed in basement very claustrophobic, I will never recommend the accommodation.
Breakfast was not included. - I live in Harrogate for the same amount of money I will get breakfast as well bottle of bubbly and open early room. Very unreasonable price for the room. The stuff wasn't very accommodating and welcoming. I have been very disappointed with this booking and the rating, it's noting want it says on the website and I definitely not safe I paid too much.
Excellent experience - would book again
We had booked into the Park Grand London Paddington, but due to a booking issue we were moved to the Park Grand Paddington Court on Gloucester.
They phoned and emailed to tell us of the change, and provided free breakfast for our trouble. The staff were extremely helpful and provided excellent service throughout our stay - the concierge, the lady working at the bar, and the reception staff. The room was impeccable - newly renovated so the beds and the fixtures and fittings were lovely, the bathroom spotless and everything comfortable. My friend and I were amazed, as we have stayed in Paddington twice before and had very disappointing rooms both times - this seemed to be a secret gem. Highly recommend.
All of the staff at th hotel were so welcoming and friendly.
We had such an amazing experience staying at the hotel for our weekend in London. The hotel was really nice and is in a great location for the tube and getting around. Our room was modern, clean, however we were in the basement so didn't receive any signal on our phones. Amazing weekend at this hotel
On arrival the gentleman service us needs to improve his communication skills.
I though he was quite unwelcoming. It was embarrassing to remind him that as a resident in this country, the proof of ideas I brought with me were enough. He quickly backed off. Otherwise, perfect service and room.
Complained and got a discount
We stayed here for two nights, The first big surprise was that no breakfast was included.
I had studied the hotel website which on numerous occasions mentioned that breakfast was free at this hotel and included in room price. However it seems that by booking through Laterooms.com the breakfast was cut out. Oddly enough there was a breakfast 'Sale' sign at reception which was pointed out to me. I will be wise to that in future. On the second night there was a complete power failure in our room. Reception didn't appreciate the difficulty were in, they hadn't even got torches to help us. We had to be moved and were upgraded to a junior suite (which strangely lacked all the full spec listed on the Hotel website!). Anyway we complained at checkout and got 15% off our second night charge. This is a nice quiet hotel in a good location but I felt staff should have been better when we had a total power failure in a basement room and having to use mobile phones to see our way around. This was a critical event for a guest and there should have been a special response to that.
