convenient stop off
situated at one end of the town, easy walk to railway station ,plenty of taxis, and not far from Bath.
Trowbridge itself is run down in places and would feel uneasy walking around in the evening
judging by what we saw during the day.
A few home comforts missing, no clock, no box of tissues, nowhere to put clothes except for a small rail to hang, drawers would have been nice.
Had to clean shower head as it was blocked with scale, looked like it hadn't been cleaned since it was put in. Couldn't remove much scale as it was bad so shower was like a bucket of water being thrown over us. Sink in the room looked nice but the tap is all wrong for that sort of sink as it didn't reach into the sink enough so water splashed over the back if tap was turned on to wash hands properly. Safe to say we won't be returning.
Large bright comfortable room, excellent breakfast, friendly staff and good central location with parking.
Great last minute find after original accommodation we had booked cancelled on us without notice.
A friendly, family- run hotel in a splendid Geogian building.
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Polebarn.
It is a small, friendly, family-run hotel in a splendid Georgian building. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed. The service was very good and helpful, and the breakfasts were excellent. The hotel is also situated in the heart of the town, which was very convenient for us.
I stayed for 1 night over the weekend of 23rd/24th April.
I was made to feel welcome as I entered the Hotel. I just had a continental style breakfast and there was plenty of choice. There was also the option of a cooked breakfast, which I declined only on the basis that I had one the day before.it was a single room where the toilet and shower area was very clean.
The TV was a little small, but after a while I got used to it.
Last minute booking.
Owner was quick efficient and friendly. Room was clean and adequate. Bed was comfortable. Place was lovely. Good history. Breakfast was excellent and well served. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

Lovely place and people, though a little on the expensive side

Deceptive from the outside.
This Hotel is amazing value for money. Full of character throughout (in a good way). Refurbished modern bathroom suites, extremely clean rooms. Cool brick arched basement restaurant/bar.
Lovely old building
Lovely old building with lots of character, cooked breakfast was lovely and we had a good nights sleep
A curious mixture
I arrived at 2pm to find the hotel, with its grim decaying exterior looking like something from The Addams Family, locked up at front and rear.
After circling the building and ringing the bell, someone eventually appeared to let me in. I had a booking the previous evening but had rung to cancel when I was forced to turn back by serious motorway traffic problems. Rather than sympathising or even greeting me with a "Hello", the lady on the desk immediately demanded money for 2 nights, which I knew was due but she was not subtle. My room was OK but lacked a wardrobe and hairdryer, and the shower entrance was ludicrously narrow and only just navigable. The breakfast was excellent and indeed the interior was very nice. All this place needs is a bit of warmth from the woman to whom I have referred.
