4Self Classified Inn Ratings explained
Bickleigh , Tiverton, EX16 8RW
The Fisherman's Cot nestling on the banks of the River Exe at Bickleigh is one of the most picturesque inns in the South of England. Its superb location makes it an all-year-round choice for locals and visitors alike. Ideally located between the city of Exeter and the old market town of Tiverton, it boasts beautiful gardens and areas where customers can enjoy the stunning river setting.
The Fisherman's Cot is a fantastic setting in which to enjoy the wide variety of traditional food and drink or its famed scrumptious Carvery. The rooms have been extensively refurbished in the summer of 2008 and now offer free WiFi throughout, flatscreen digital TVs and luxurious bedding.

Ideally located between the city of Exeter and the old market town of Tiverton, it boasts beautiful gardens and areas where customers can enjoy the stunning river setting. The main appeal of this beautiful area of Mid Devon is the local walks particularly the Grand Western Canal Country Park. The 11-mile walk along the banks of the River Exe offers horse drawn barge trips. There's also local fishing on the River Exe, pony trekking and the famous 14th century Bickleigh Castle. Tiverton is the main town, the largest in mid Devon and famous for Blundells School. It also has its own Castle, built in 1106 on the orders of Henry 1 and there are 15 galleries in the Tiverton Museum covering agriculture, architecture and archaeology.

Lovely but tired decoration
The bar has a wonderful view of the river. The room was very clean and in good order. However the paper is beginning to peel, and it is in need of having some money spent decorating it.

Not really up to expectations
When we got there the place looked very tired and needed a lot of money spent on it to bring it up to scratch, the windows were part rotten and the paint flaking off, we were told that the tv in all rooms was not working and they didn't know when they would be fixed, there was dust in a lot of places though the beds were clean, we were down to stay for two nights but left after one, the staff were very polite but the place was just not very good.

Excellent hospitality great food, smashing location
I chanced upon this place through Late rooms. The location is picturesque, right beside the river. The food was excellent, and the service superb and friendly.

Excellant location but pub is now looking very tired. Poor standard for a chain pub in such a spot
The room was fine, the location is excellant (stayed here before) but the pub is now looking very tired and worn. Oh yes and the toilets are disgusting, especially for a chain pub, very tatty and dirty and have seen no attention from when I stayed here around 7 years ago! Food ok but I was disappointed, especially as this place isnt cheap.
