About the hotel
We are delighted to welcome you to Culmhead House. Our suites and Camellia Room offer flexible accommodation for families and couples who are passing through or enjoying a stay in this lovely part of Somerset. The suites are situated in the Manor House and all provide one or two bedrooms, sitting room, dining area, bathroom and a kitchen.
Camellia is our latest addition and it offers a large bedroom with bathroom and wet room. The grounds are great for children and there are many areas to sit and unwind after a days travelling. There is so much to do within about half an hour in all directions. We are delighted to advise you on day trips, activities and a wealth of wonderful places to eat. We look forward to seeing you. . . . . . . . . . . Culmhead House was built in 1850 and was originally set in some 500 acres of its own grounds with lakes, woods and many cottages. During World War Two the house was occupied by the American Forces who were posted at Culmhead Air Base. Today it is our home and we offer you a fairly "free to roam'' policy in our grounds and gardens which are ideal for a barbecue, with areas for children to enjoy our very popular trampoline and swings. The lawns and woods have many areas to sit and relax before or after a day out.

Thoughts on culmhead house
Culmhead House is a great place to stay...peaceful, beautiful, luxurious..and Sue Rogers is all a proprietor should be..so full marks.
But two things...The sign directing visitors to the house from the road is hard to spot, even in daylight, and is only of the same design and structure as one denoting a bridlepath for example...secondly.. the drive curves into the visitors carpark, and on the curve is a dip across its full width ..so maybe deliberately constructed for a run off for water, or to slow cars on the bend..either way, there is no warning, and came as quite a surprise both to us and the car. If it is to carry away rainwater, perhaps a grid could be constructed over it ..just a thought...but all in all a place definitely to return too
