About the hotel

An 18th century GRADE 2 listed former bakehouse ,a bed and breakfast not an hotel ,with original flagstone floors, 5 mins walk from the railway station, comfortable and clean , relaxed and informal , a DOG is present and we encourage others ,also the owner is a retired Actor /antiques dealer so the house is furnished to reflect its age , Located near the centre of historic town of Sherborne in the county of Dorset, two minutes walk from the famous Sherborne Abbey and town centre. our ethos is to provide a very relaxed and informal feeling ,,you can get in after 3 pm and breakfast is from 7 to 11 , each of the 8 rooms are furnished differently with mix of antiques and modern furniture , tea and coffee , wi fi and tvs in all rooms at no charge , we are only 2 mins from the boys school and about 8 from the girls , the prep is about 2 mins . we have been running for about 10 yrs .

. we set out to provide a clean decent room, hot water and powerful showers , where the staff are friendly and helpful ,breakfasts use local food from the local butcher and baker and are cooked to order , all our vegatables are sourced less than a mile away . our winter rates are from £59 per night for a double room , £49 for a single , people who wish to stay for an extended period can contact us for a better rate ,one gentleman from sherborne school has been staying with us one night a week for 9 yrs ! also we dont ask what you want for breakfast tomorrow either !we are happy to have your dogs here and even will walk them for free!remember if we are not busy we reduce rates sometimes as low as £29 per night , in our view its wasteful to have empty rooms , better someone gets a bargain ! everybody wins ! sundays is a good night to pick ! polite note if you want get in early please remember if you turn up at 12 mid day its unlikely you will be able to get into your room !leaving bags is fine , we need time to change thats why we have 3 pm get in ,so maybe book 2 nights?

I arrived in Sherbourne early last Friday morning 6am, I was asked by Malcolm if I'd like a cuppa having driven all night from the ferry, after this I was given breakfast & shown to my room for a rest..

While it might not be to everyone's taste it was more than adequate go the few days that I was there.. I will return to spend more time in the area & explore more

The Bakehouse Centre of Sherbourne

Malcolm the owner of the Bakehouse with his Labrador Charlie a well behaved six year old welcomed us and assisted to our rooms.

The king size bed fitted with a memory mattress was firm and very comfortable. The excellent Full English Breakfast was cooked fresh by Malcolm. The position was central and within 10 minutes walk for meeting family at The Tambourino Resteraunt and Sherbourne Abbey for the 800am Sunday HC service before breakfast.
