About the hotel

The Old Chapel is situated at the foot of Castle Hill in Shaftesbury, which is an ancient Saxon hilltop town set in Thomas Hardy country with many places of historic interest in and around the area. This makes Shaftesbury an ideal centre from which to explore Dorset, Wiltshire and Somerset. The Chapel was built in 1827 and extended in 1868 to double its original size.

It became a private dwelling in 1985 and has recently been totally renovated and extended to be a comfortable family home. As a family run Bed & Breakfast we look forward to offering you a warm and friendly welcome to our home, and to making your stay with us an enjoyable and memorable experience.

Fantastic Value for Money, nothing too much trouble

A really gorgeous little B & B, there are only two rooms.

Ours was very well furnished, with a 6 feet bed and spotless bathroom. Nothing is too much trouble for Sue and Phil, the owners. We were greeted with a tray of coffee served in the beautiful living room (open access to guests) which has wonderful views overlooking three Counties. Breakfast was fantastic, bowls of fresh berries, choice of cereals, nuts, fruit etc., plus a choice of cooked breakfast. On all 4 mornings we ate there we were able to eat nothing else until our evening meal. Very friendly and personal service from Sue and Phil, they made us feel very welcome in their beautiful home. Thank you.
